XM Sirius App released for Android OS

I just tested the app in my car. Compared the audio quality from my XM receiver to using my Incredible Sirius/XM app streamed via Bluetooth to my Sony deck. Audio quality is much better through my XM receiver via AUX. If the stream using the app is 128 kb/s, it sure as hell doesn't sound like it.

You also have to consider the fact that you're sending it to your receiver via air waves rather than hardwire. There will always be a deterioration in sound doing that. Try hardwiring your incredible and see if that makes a difference.

Wait. I have to pay EXTRA for this on top of my regular subscription??!! I was contemplating getting rid of Sirius and subscribing to Slacker Radio but waited for the Sirius app to be released. If I have to pay extra to use the Sirius app then my decision is easy. Cancel Sirius and use Slacker.

PS. I am a long time subscriber, stock holder and supporter of Sirius Radio. I feel charging to use the app on top of their already high fees is just gouging their subscribers.

I'm surprised at the "surprise" of these now, not new changes to SiriusXM since the merge. There was a huge uproar back when this happened and online streaming was nolonger offered as part of your packages. In fact, I even re-upped my subscription early to "lock in" online listening for an additional year before that feature ended.

I'm probably in the minority, but I never minded paying extra for the premium online service. I sit at my desk or work bench for 8 hours a day and need variety in my music. Slacker is nice but their playlist seems to have shrunk to the point that I'm hearing the same song twice in a day. XM keeps me up to date on newer music and a lot of their channels have some pretty deep playlists which is nice.

Too each their own. I don't mind paying but I can understand why some people would have an issue.

I have lifetime subscription with unlimited online listening.

I guess online listening from the phone is different then online listening form a PC.

I hope someone makes a third party app that allows it for free (when I say free I mean as long as you already have a subscription)
I know there was a nice app that allowed this from my WinMo phone.

It may work via the browser, once Flash 10 is released. If not, it should already be working via Skyfire, and online access.

I understand...but you gotta look at it like another radio.

Why? Its not a dedicated receiver. There is no sat antenna installed, I'm accessing it via the internet, just like with my online subscription. I can already login online via my Nokia, but the "Flash Player does not work". If I use Skyfire, then again, I'm still able to listen "on my phone", at no extra charge. If I'm listening on my phone, most likely, I'm not listening via PC, so there really isn't additional bandwidth being used. If anything, they should just charge for the app, not a monthly fee.

Maybe their bandwidth is limited now with the merger of the companies. Trust me....I dont wanna pay.....but if it means better, uninterrupted service....I'd rather pay and have it work well....then be free and work intermittently.

Fair enough...somebody has to pay for the bandwidth. But again, if people with existing accounts have to pay, it seems excessive. I'd be ok with a one-time fee, but monthly is a bit much.

But again, once sling mobile drops, this issue will be moot.
