Official 4G/WiMAX Coverage Areas

User from Androidcentral claims that his EVO picked up 4G today in LA. I am in Orange County. I hope this would cover my area!! Would be sweet!!

Sorry to disappoint but tower ranges are only a few miles. Still, north OC is supposed to be part of the LA rollout, which means we might start seeing 4G signals in OC after a short while (perhaps months but getting it at all this summer would be awesome)

Can I ask where exactly you are getting 4g coverage from in NYC? Which borough are you in?
I'm in Queens. Exactly on Parsons and 82nd drive right now.

All my tests (except the drive by test the other week) have been conducted from this location.

These are my (highest) results (on the days I remember to test)...

Edit:
This screen print shows you that I am connected to 4G using the U301 3G/4G Smartview application. Its only 2 bars strong (in fact its always only two bars on 4G).

Rumor is Upstate NY will launch first then NY City will be after..

They had a few bad launches and want to make sure major markets are near perfect before launching..

LA, NY, FLA etc will have good city wide coverage before they go live.. I have found Clear's maps to be very accurate for the most part..

NY,LA and FL are major Sprint markets so the launches have to be right at this stage of the game

Any timetable for official launch in NYC or just sometime this summer?

The thing that gets me, is that I think I am getting the signal from the Merrick Blvd wimax tower about a mile away. That i know of thats the only tower near these parts. although over in Howard Forums someone mentioned that there are quite a few wimax towers in queens, but I don't see them. i have yet to see a map that does show these towers.

They are not towers in the city. They are probably on top of buildings. Faster and cheaper than tower installs.

Also NY got a shit load of 3g towers installed over the last 6 months

The one on Merrick Blvd is a stand alone tower/pole, but yeah i know most would be on top of buildings. Triangle shaped arrays, but driving around the city elevated highways i keep a look out and don't see any. When you say a bunch of 3g towers do you really mean 3g or 4g?

TS

Sorry 3g towers and wimax added too of course but in the city installs on buildings are quick and easier to do.. more locations, less permit hassles...

Has anyone heard anything about 4g coverage in New Orleans. I had one phone rep tell me by the end of 2010, and another tell me sometime in 2011. I haven't been able to find anything official from sprint. It seems with all of the work on towers that needed to be be done after Katrina they should have been preparing for 4g. Plus The area is really flat so line of site here should be a lot easier than a lot of other places.

It will be covered under the areas that are funded by the stimulus money..

5 states and 2 territories are under this funding. If I see anything I will let you know..
