Michigan EVO round-up

I enjoy the moment but the hero would be better for your son since he's 13 and the gpu in the hero is better for 3d games and such. Also the Hero has better Facebook integration and stuff if he is into that. Pretty much if a hard keyboard isn't needed id get the hero most likely he would enjoy the hero more because of games and Sense UI.

Thanks, for that input. The only problem i have is some of the adult content apps. in the market, I know he can find that stuff on the internet, I just want to try to limit his access. He loves the hero and plays games on it a lot.

I live in Niles but SB is close. BB in SB didn't know anything on pre order day. I was the first one at 12:30pm. I hate my Pre (like webos hate the hardware). Friday can't come soon enough.

I am very excited to get the evo too. I am kinda wondering if the store i "ordered" at will really have the evo's that I ordered. Normally they dont get the cool phones untill about a month or so after release. I talk to the manager quite a bit and she told me they would have it on the 4th, so I guess I will see on friday.

I'm going there too! But ot in line - I preordered it.

Yeh I pre'd-up too, just don't want to deal with long activation waiting times. With the many preorders they have, it could be while b4 they get to you, especially if the line is long. Me bn in line early, I will be in and out in a hurry.

Don't mind waiting a few hours ..I'll have movies and tim hortons coffee keeping me company.

For the Pre I went early to a Sprint store. I have never done a pre-order for a phone at Best Buy before. They said they have over 50 pre orders. They called me and I made an appointment, which makes me think that I can just go in at that time, pick up the phone, activate it and get out - not a long process. Why, then should we arrive early? What are these appointments for? Spreading out the activations?

If I wanted, could I go in when they open and pick it up, instead at the time they have me scheduled for?

i dont understand how everyone complains about battery life.... i have had prolly 5-600 phones and i dont think i ever had a phone and didnt have a car charger. i also have multiple home chargers. So if anyone thinks that they can use a phone, especially a phone like the evo and not have an extra charger are crazy. i talk a ton and use the internet a ton..... but i have my phone charging pretty much all the time. Your buying the best phone in the US right now . i would suggest to get a xtra charger. just in case

I plan on an a car charger and an extra battery. I also got a cool re-chargeable device from sprint, it's like a portable charging device, charge it up and then you can charge your phone anytime you need to. I leave it in my dump truck and use it on those longer days in the summer.

I just preordered one at the BB in AA but their first shipment is already sold out, so I'd be interested to hear if there are any in stock elsewhere on the 4th so I don't have to wait for the next BB shipment.

i wonder what the actual numbers are. i really have to think the lady at RS was messing with me when she said they already had 200 pre-orders (not expected phones in, but actual orders). i was assured that i would get one at my scheduled time. i wont really care if i dont, but ill use it as an excuse to get some discount on something if i dont. kinda defeats the purpose of pre-ordering if you dont get the thing you pre-ordered.

meh, anyways...i think they only hold it for 2 days if you dont pick it up. if the RS on maple really has that many i bet someone wont pick theirs up...its worth trying.

me, i am pre-ordered at the radio shack on maple on the west side. scheduled time is 9:30am.

I will have to try to stop by that one

I called the Briarwood one and the guy said he doesn't even know how many he's getting! Said to call back on Thurs to see. When I asked how many pre-orders he just said "a lot". Pretty weak if you ask me. At least BB knows how many they are getting!

I stopped by there last week, I forgot how many they said they had

Best Buy Grandville for me. Hey wega, is beltline setting up appointments?

Just got the call from the Best Buy on East Beltline to setup appointment. I was first pre-order. They're opening at ten.

Things discussed:

  • Do you want Zagg screen protector pre-installed? $~30
  • Do you want one of the cases (limited supply), chargers, etc.?
  • Getting free Plantronics BT.
  • 18 mos. 0% on BB card over $250. (Not sure how $50 pre-order gift card will play into that. i.e. return it, rebuy it on BB card.)

And, of course, the appointment time you'd like.
