The E in I570EXXJC1 is for Eclair

I must be missing something as I cannot see an update on there. Just the same old version of NPS and Kies.

I'll try this update to see what it's about. The Documentation says it only works with Winsows 2000/XP. But I can't see what firmware version it uses. I'm tyring it on the latest version of Kies in Windows 7. I'll report back after I've fiddled with it.

there didnt used to be a galaxy portal on the firmware update page but there is now..i cant update mine as i used odin

as for t mobile they dont no the left and from there right when it comes to updates

Kies runs on Windows 7, but you have to enable USB Debugging for it to see the phone. No update available.

On Windows XP, I ran NPS 1.5 and it said NPS doesn't support GT5700, use Kies instead. Fat lot of use that was. I tried updating the firmware from NPS, but it said no update available.

I can only assume that it's because I am already on 2.1, (or the update process doesn't work).

My conclusion is, if you want to try this update method, go ahead.

However, as many have already updated using Odin, AND we know it works, if you want to update use Odin.

once youve used odin you can use nps to update the phone any more all i wanted to do is inform the members who havnt updated via odin that you should be able to now with nps if you cant phone samsung and tell them that its says on there web site that theres a updated firware you you to insatll

I've tried to update again through NPS on a clean windows XP install using the version linked above, it states "device is not supported", "The device you have selected does not support software upgrade". Also tried on another XP PC with NPS1.5 linked from this thread, this states "no updates available".

Back to Odin as this roll of the dice was a FAIL.

As i said earlier, t-mobile uk say it it not yet available through NPS, but will be once t-mobile uk have aproved it

Expect it to be the earlier version JC1. I'll be glad to be wrong, but, I ain't taking bets. There are 6 (count 'em) later firmware versions after JC1.

I think the point is that a large number of users have lost faith an any sort of update via T-Mobile UK. As far as I am aware they have not confirmed a delivery method and cannot even give a release date tied to something like Q3 2010.

I've updated this afternoon using the firmware and instructions provided by Beerkan and after a couple of hours use I must say, so far, I'm glad I did.

This must mean the release is close, as this follows the pattern seen with countries that have had the release.

I570EXXJD4 is marked as suitable for Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom.

Truth is, you can install ANY firmware. Once you insert your SIM it will pick up your provider for phone calls and incoming SMS. You may only need to change the language and enter your own providers APN setttings. You might have to manually enter your providers SMS Centre No. too.

I know some Canadian users have successfully installed I570EXXJD4, having only to manually add their providers APN settings.

I have been in contact with both Telia and Telecare. Neither know anything about an Android OS 2.1 upgrade. They confirm that there have been other users asking the same question. Anyone know more about the situation in DK?
