How To can you set default access point for exchange email?

a co worker of mine got a droid yesterday and I am trying to help him set it up. we got his exchange email working this morning while using his verizon data connection. he later set his phone up to access the office wifi connection, and now his exchange email will not sync. If he turns wifi off and forces his phone to use his mobile data, it works. I know the reason for this is because the server address to access the exchange server is different if you are trying to access it from inside the office network as opposed to trying to access it from another network.
my question is this, is there a setting that he can toggle to make just his email connect via verizons network, and keep everything else connecting via wifi?
On my nokia, in my mail for exchange settings, i have a setting for default access point, and i set it to AT&T internet and can browse the web and what not over the office wifi and have my exchange keep working over 3g. just wondering if the droid has a similar setting somewhere.

I don't think this is possible with Android, because the phone only supports a single IP connection at one time... when you establish a wi-fi link, the 3G connection drops, and vice-versa. The only thing I can think of that might work is to set up two Exchange accounts that are identical other than the server URL. One of those two accounts will always work while the other will fail, depending on the connection.

I don't use the built-in email client for Exchange because it's just too limited, so don't know whether it supports multiple Exchange accounts. But I believe Touchdown (which I use) can handle this.

So is supporting a single IP connection at a time a "feature" specific to the android operating system, or a "feature" specific to phones operating on the verizon network, or a "feature" specific to the motorola droid.
Just wondering, as I was really wanting to get an android phone myself, though I would be buying an unlocked GSM phone to use on AT&T. I currently use an unlocked Nokia N95, and with it I can have wifi on browsing the internet and still have my exchange email and gmail syncing via AT&T 3g. Each program that is accessing a network connection has a setting for which default network you want it to use.
As far as setting up two exchange accounts (one for local server address, one for remote server access) I dont really think that would be the best option, as I imagine what that would do would be basically giving him a double copy of all of his emails, unless I am mistaken on how it would handle multiple exchange accounts.

he has gone ahead and set up 2 separate exchange accounts and it is working fine now, so i guess that answers the question about whether or not the droid supports multiple exchange accounts.
however, i am still interested in my other question regarding multiple internet connections, whether that is an android OS thing, or droid or verizon specific. just curious now as I am still considering buying an unlocked android gsm phone, either a milestone, xperia x10, or something new that comes out this summer.

Glad to hear that setting up two accounts provided a workaround. He should never have any problems with conflicts or duplicate emails, because both accounts on the phone are talking to the same mailbox on the server -- and because the two accounts will never be able to connect at the same time (one works only with wi-fi; the other only with 3G).

Re. your question about multiple internet connections, I'm almost certain that this is a general "Android OS thing" and not specific to the Droid or to Verizon. However, I'm not an Android expert, so maybe someone else can confirm this?

Just a side note - its very simple with either the hosts file or the dns server internally to make the server address identical internally and externally its just a synonym for the same IP address. Having done this only one exchange account would be necessary

In the android the hosts file is in /etc/hosts
