Buy Sprint Stock today?

It's not a BAD idea, but you might be disappointed if you think it's going to jump as a result of the release.

There's nothing really new happening for Sprint business-wise tomorrow. If you buy in anticipation of a good quarter for them due to a (doubtfully) enormous successful EVO release which brings in lots of new profits, then you'd be looking forward to their next quarter, not the release date tomorrow.

With ATT and VZ both doing away with unlimited data plans and sprint touting they have unlimited 4g data plan we are going to see tons of switch over customers who simply want unlimited data. Sprints stock is inline for the number of customers they serve. If the customer base increases the stock "should" rise. I bought 200 shares of S this morning on that bet.

I bought last month at $4.28. Sprint went in the tank after buying Nextel and they lost a lot of subscribers due to customer service issues. They have addressed the service issue and the turnover rate has slowed. I bought on speculation that Evo will be the launching pad for a second life for Sprint. Lots of speculation that it will climb to $6 or more in the near future, but anything above that will depend on how Sprint builds on the momentum from Evo and how the market responds to 4G.

I don't think the 4G and the Evo will have that much of an impact on Sprint's business. I hope it does, but I'm not expecting it. It's no iPhone. Not saying it's not as good, it's just not going to be as popular. I'll be real surprised to be wrong. As a previous poster said, you can't go too wrong with some Apple. Sprint's been going downhill for quite a while. They really blew it with the Palm Pre. I don't know what they're really doing wrong. Sprint has actually been my favorite carrier, but I'm not loyal, I go where the phone I want is, sometimes every year. I'm going to try this Evo out, but if the 4G is spotty, or I don't like the interface I'll drop it like an AT&T call.

like buttholes, everyones got one. Sprint needs evo to be the iphone killer to move the stock. Do you think it will be?

If you thing the EVO will save sprint alone, thats laughable. S showed better than expected 1st quarter returns. Most analyst have improved their ranking of S. Several have switched from hold to buy (after bumping it up from sell to hold 4th quarter '09). S need to show substantial improvement buy the end of the year or S will fall. S is #3 of the top 3 btw.

Yes, everyones got one. I told you what I did, I sold. I still think it will be mid 6 by years end.

I'm actually not allowed to comment on whether to buy it or not. However, this chart shows an interesting trend. Notice the price today compared to the price on Sprint's last major launch (Palm Pre)?

Sprint Nextel Corporation Comm Share Price Chart | S - Yahoo! Finance (set date to 6/1/2009 to see pre-Pre launch)

Draw your own conclusions from there.

(BTW, I do not own S or anything related to it)
