Official EVO Rumors and Speculation thread

Why/how did you get the "24-month $10 reoccurring credit"?

I heard that Sprint was offering it to customers who were out of contract and who were willing to renew (and still keep their $150 discount eligibility). I spoke to retentions earlier in May to confirm they would do this for me and they said yes. I was going to wait until today to do it, but then people were saying that Sprint was pulling the plug on the offer because so many people were asking for it to offset the Evo data charge. So I called late last week to pull the trigger.

Today I just wanted to confirm that the change was made before I went in tomorrow to buy the Evo.

I would've countered with, "well, if you offer me $199 AND guarantee to get the phone by next week, then I might actually consider it!"...LOL. I negotiate for a living, so I never "pass off" an opportunity to do so, especially if Sprint is desparate to have people give up their pre-orders.

I might have considered that. I was already getting a store credit from the Sprint Store (which I wouldn't get this way), so I'd have to negotiate that up to make it worth it anyway.

However, my son broke his phone and is going on a choir trip to NYC Saturday. We need the extra phone by then. So it really wouldn't have worked for me. Perhaps they got someone else on the list to bite.

First of all Hopalee.... you know you love it :)

Secondly... I just got back from BB and double... no triple checked my pre-order status.. and the manager pulled mine out and showed me that I was good and so on. 1st... last... don't give a hoot... as long as it's mine.

Lastly, The Mobile Manager had one out to play with and WOW.... WOW.... I can't describe it's weight and feel.... text resizes perfectly and sites come up perfectly.... Tomorrow will be forever known as E-Day...

Hey TS.... how bout E-Day Thread?!?!:D

Old news I like how Bek got quoted in there. Glad to see he got a working fix...

The author actually contacted me earlier today, asking to interview me for this piece. All I did was reiterate my experiences that I've already detailed in the Troubleshooting thread.

I'm interested that HTC has apparently chimed in, admitting that it was a software fault. I'm looking forward to finding out what it's all about.

If I wasn't so tired I would go by BB just from your thread. I guess i will just read the manual until I fall asleep.:)

This really is a big deal for me coming from my Diamond which i have had almost two years. In being a premier customer, I will probably upgrade every year around this time, or whenever the best deal is on a new phone after the june fourth.

Some of us are hyperventilating, some of us are in psych ward at our local hospital after having fits with RS/BB/EVP. and some of us are just quietly and patiently waiting for tomorrow to pick up the EVO and scream out like girl scouts meeting Smokey the Bear for the first time. lol

TS
And others might be waiting to gauge the reaction to this wonder device before going and obtaining their own EVOs.

Its probably best that you don't go... I found it very difficult to give the phone back...... very..... very... difficult.....

Yup! I also got to play with one for about 20 minutes at my BB too. It's insane how responsive it is! The only thing that bugged me is that when I tried to stream video from my Orb account it showed a connection @~250Kbps, (same rate I usually get with my 700wx in the area) which wasn't strong enough to stream video. I was hoping that at the very least it could get a stronger 3G signal.

Either way, the phone was perfect in every way. Perfect size, perfect form factor, the on-screen keyboard was insanely easy to use (I've never had an on-screen keyboard before).... It was just all-around AWESOME!!

Today for some reason I called just to ask something about the EVO and was told I was eligible for aone time 50 dollars which I took of course. I sold my TP2 for 150 so now my Sprint account has a 200 dollar credit.

Just wanted to express my thanx to all who have posted in this forum. I have mixed feelings as we all enter into the final hours of this epic trek for the worlds greatest phone to date. I have been here since the beginning though my first post wasn't until 3-22, post #311. We all have had our ups and downs , but overall this has been a wonderfully informative place to be. TS and all the other mods have put up with our BS and bickering and have been fair and swift in their jobs, my hats off to them. This will be my first android phone, and with the knowledge I have gained here it will make the transition from Blackberry very easy.

They keep telling me I have a $50 credit available on two lines if I renew the contract, but despite people here getting that and keeping their $150 upgrade credit for a new phone, several reps have told me that if I take the $50 I lose the upgrade. These are managers and supervisor reps who know their stuff, and I've checked with a few of them and gotten the same answer. I would hate to get to best buy to pick up the Evo and have to pay full price, so I passed on the $50.

I would insist on speaking to another supervisor or manager if this is the case. I initially spoke to an online chat representative that told me I would be able to get a $70 credit for renewing, and keep the upgrade, but a short moment later she told me I would not keep the upgrade, which makes no sense whatsoever.

Think about it, who would take a 50 or 70 dollar credit and forgo the $150 device credit? It really does not make sense.

I had to talk to 2 other supervisors but I eventually got the 70 dollars for renewing and kept my $150 device credit.

I think the new deal is $50, not $70, but as long as you're out of contract or within a few months (I was 3 months away), you should be eligible for it. I'd keep pushing.

I did the $50 credit for two of my lines (one of which is the main line I will be getting the EVO for tomorrow) few days ago and I just checked online and my $150 upgrade credit is still there.

Do you think its a software fault though? Were you the one who got the new micro sd? 10 hours people!

No I did it before and I got 50 bucks off when I got my TP2 and didn't lose my upgrade on my other line. He assured me I wouldn't and she told me today I am still showing eligible and the 50 bucks was already credited.
