Root Ivans CPU speed

Try putting the governor on performance...710 if thats your max and for min I have mine set at 528mhz which I think is the default eris speed. Also be sure to enable profiles and create one for sleep/standby so as to avoid lag when coming out of sleep mode. I did a 528max and 19 min. This is what ive been using and it works perfectly. It seems all phones handle OC differently so you may have to do some adjusting.

Performance will always use the max cpu all the time.

On-demand will use the minimum clock when the phone isn't doing anything (sleeping, just sitting there not running apps, etc.), the second you hit something, or receive a call, or do anything, it will instantly bump up to your max clock speed for optimum performance. You should be using on-demand for battery life.

The only profiles you need are
-default (when your using your phone)
-sleep/standby (when you're not using your phone)
-Max Temp/emergancy shutdown (should be around 40-45 celcius) I haven't seen a rom that has a temp sensor for the actual processor, but those are good general temps to down clock at for the battery. If it hits that temp, make it clock way down to allow it to cool off, like 2xx.

Thanks i just put mine to all of your settings.

Whats your MFLAP with 710? and Do other ROMS handle OC different? I was thinking of getting Ic3 v2.7

The rom doesn't determine the overclocking, it's all related to the kernel. The only difference as for handling is if you have a low voltage kernel, which can be less stable, but bring increased battery life (I haven't seen any out for the eris yet). Other kernel limitations are the max clock (the average is 768 being stable), some kernels stop you at 710, others go to 8xx. Different roms include different kernels, so you'll have to do some research.

From what I've read. you should be able to flash a different kernel (I could be wrong, it happens from time to time). Just be sure to do your NAND back ups and when OC'ing its best to increase clocke speed in smaller increments to ensure stability before hitting the set on boot option. I guess technically you even really have check the set on boot option.

Oh and what's this scary alien; get a Droid X and a fancy new avatar? Wait, were you always a senior member too? What happens while I'm stuck at work?!

lol! My daughter hooked me up with some cool photoshopping... I got my X and decided I'd better get a nice background for it and one thing led to another :D.

Now, I'm just waiting for the dust to settle on the 2.1 update to get from fresh ROMs, especially Ivan's newest concoctions. Now that I've got an alternate phone, I can play a little more with my Eris.

I'm hoping the update will be inluded in Ivan's 1.1... if not, no biggie, beggers can't be choosers.

No phone updrades for me until 2ghz processors are out running Gingerbread on an up and running 4g network... I'm standing strong on that.

Yeah, I saw recently that VZW is going to be rolling-out LTE soon. LTE/Gingerbread/2GHz/big-screen = awesome/kick-ass phone! (don't tell my wife :D)

Just keep an eye on this forum over at XDA: Droid Eris Android Development - xda-developers. This is where the devs hang out, so its often your best source of direct, up-to-date information about any ROM.

When Ivan puts out his new ROM (or happens to update his other one), it will show-up in this forum first.

Here is the current 1.0 thread over there: [ROM] Eris_Official 1.0 Alpha With Controllable Overclocking! [5/9/2010] - xda-developers, I would think that you'll see a link or a reference in this thread to any new ROM related to it he might cook-up.

Cheers!
