Hope someone can tell me I'm wrong ...

Just got back from the Verizon store and am so disappointed. I've been following the Droid for a long time and was just going to go in and pick one up - but then decided to play with it for a bit. Here's the deal-breaker for me - and I'm hoping someone can tell me this can be resolved:
I'm not a kid and I need reading glasses for some things. I have an itouch and have had no problem reading on it with it's pinch and zoom capabilities.

I was aware that you need to double click and/or use the magnifier to make text bigger on the Droid and had no problem with that. However, it appears that there are pages on which you cannot change the font. For instance, when typing an address in Google, there was no way I could read the letters and typed in and there was seemingly no way to enlarge them (the staff, who didn't seem to know the machine at all, could find no way either). They also said there were certain pages that were sized for mobile and there was no way to make their fonts larger or smaller.

As I said, this is a true deal-breaker for me. I never read anything about this (reviewers must have great eyes) and am heartbroken to have to give this phone up. Please tell me there's some way to get around this...

Thanks.

are you talking about the text in the browser only or text for the UI as well...

Under menu you can set up a few options for text format... from tiny to very large... and you can set up the zooming.. from far, normal, and close... I kinda like close.

I have been fooling around with the emulator on 2.0 and I found that the text just seemed really small cause the webpage was zoomed out too far.

Have to download Spare Parts from the Android Market.

Tried it again at the Verizon store. I changed the Text Size in Settings twice - and then when the person came over to help me, I couldn't find it again - neither could he or any of the tech people. Very weird. We then downloaded Spare Parts and used that.

None of this seems to affect pages like Google search, however. Or the front page. Is that correct?

Thanks again, everyone.

I have pretty bad vision, and when I went to verizon to get this phone yesterday I waited 15 minutes to try to play with one but people were using them....

Anyway I have tried the Spare Parts app. t changes the font size, but as soon as you exit out it goes back to the regular size it was at.

I need to go back to verizon and hope they let me go back to my LG 8300 and let me return this phone.
