I have only been active in the root forum for a couple of weeks, and this question seems to be very recurrent. The best answer that I can give is that you really have to just try the ROM's and see how it works with your particular setup. For instance, EE seems to be a really popular ROM, but the dev reports that you cannot get satellite data for GPS when you use it. Well, that is a must for me, so the ROM is out. You have to look at the features you like, and then decide which ROM is best on your phone.

I'm currently using Aloysius White, but I'm anxious to see what kev is up to by adding JIT "and other goodies" to it.

Im stuck between Evil Eris 3.0, Ic3 2.7, and Sense-able.

What do you guys like, and find to have the best battery life with OC?

I have used about every ROM and tested a few that never were released and I have always gone back to Aloysius. Reason is speed and ability to customize so easily. Even without my tweaks its one of the fastest ROMs out there. Plus great battery life and very stable

I hope your expectations arent too high. I just having a friend make a version with JIT and everything else setup so it makes it easier for ppl. But hitting some snags and will hopefully get it soon.

I haven't tried to many, but I guess I'm playing it somewhat "safe" by having Sense-Able and Ivan's ROM at the top of my list. Some ROMs I simply won't try because of an issue or two that they have. Like mentioned above, GPS (via satellite) doesn't work on Evil Eris (or didn't) and that's a no-go for me. Many have MMS issues and again, that's a no-go.

My favorites so far:

Aloysius - I used this for the longest time.
CyanogenEris - It's extremely fast for me.

I really like Senseable, Evil Eris, and ZenEXP too, but I've always found myself coming back to the ones above.

Spencer, Framework, mak, jamezelle, and all the other people associated with the development scene all have done a fantastic job.

Ok, I just rooted tonight and I feel like my head is going to explode from reading all about roms, etc etc. Right now I only have that rooted eris one from the 1.5 to root guide. Is that good enough for now, or should I pop in one of the other things?

Also, I ran the extras bat file from that guide and now have the stock lock screen, but I don't like how it's see-through. Is there a way to fix that, or can I get a different lockscreen? Thanks!

As long as you have the recovery menu installed then i would suggest trying out Evil Eris 3.0 it only takes a few minutes and if you dont like it you can reload ANY ROM you like.

It's my personal favorite and the most up to date ROM there is at the moment

I want my phone to be fast AND reliable. I find that Aloysius v11 has sound problems but have not seen any fixes to it. Sound issues such as after first phone call, theres no more sound. It is unacceptable. I'm trying Evil Eris 2.01 and so far I've heard more chimes about my email and phone calls than I ever heard with Aloysius. For some reason, wireless tether works better on EE as well.

Sounds like a bad flash for you. I use Aloysius v11 as my every day ROM and never have issues. Also, he has updated it. Its up to Aloysius Snow 2, which is 2 releases past v11. Maybe check it out.
