Battery issues my @ss!

So, even for those of you with negative battery reviews... you are still saying your battery life is better than what I'm getting with my G1? (7-8 hours of moderate use with a 1300mAh battery or 25-30 minutes of good hard 3g use. lol)

Also, is there anyone else on here who is in an area that doesn't even have 3g? If so, how is that affecting your battery life?

My battery seems to die more when I'm not using the phone. When I use the phone heavily the meter doesn't move at all. But when I set the phone down and come back in an hour the battery meter has moved a lot.

Seidio 1750 battery btw. Though this is the first charge so i'm going to let it die before charging it back up all the way.

I Tortured my phone today. Never let it rest. Navigation w/ satellite layer turned-on, then camera everytime I was there taking pictures everywhere. partial navigation going back then did FB all the way home once we got our bearings. I did depleted 2 batteries, but with the work out I gave it, I think it's understandable how fast the discharge rate was.

There seems to be a slight delay in what it reports. After I posted the battery meter dropped from a little over 50 to about 1/3.
I'm running JuicePlotter today. Need to find a battery widget looks good on the screen.

Unplugged my Evo at around 7pm yesterday to head to the supermarket. 100% charge.

Made 4 or 5 calls (including at the market to call home to ask wifey what I FORGOT TO BUY...lol)

20 or 30 SMS, Surfed the web via wifi and 3G for about 2 hrs, email, android market, rss reader, etc.

Battery info says 21 hrs, 2 minutes since unplugged, and I'm at 39% according to the Battery Life widget.

GPS off, 4G off, live wall paper off. WiFi is on. Screen brightness is turned down to about 40%, Friendstream running both twitter and FB updates every 2 hrs. 2 email accounts (yahoo and aol) updating every 30 mins, 2 gmail accounts on push (I guess....how can you tell?)

NO COMPLAINTS with battery life whatsoever. All those reviewers before launch warning about bad battery life really put a scare into me, but I am pleasantly surprised. I believe that the GPS really sucks down the power.

It's not all roses and candy. I' haven't had any issue yet. I'll know more tomorrow when I won't have ready access to charging.

From ready the JuicePlotter graph today there's a strong indication that the phone can discharge the battery during GPS usage. WHILE PLUGGED IN. No where near as bad as my Diamond or Touch Pro but it's there.

100% charge this morning at 9am.. It is now 4PM while very little texting and some web browsing. No calls, Wifi off, GPS off, 4G off.. Battery at.. 15%, Brightness at 35%..

This is getting stupid how bad the battery life is. I have 1 push Gmail account with K-9 Mail and weather updates every 3 hours. This is a joke. I'm almost to the point of not using the phone without it being on a charger.

I dont understand how anyone is getting better battery life when they are running more than I do. Worst. Battery. Ever. (that i have used)

Not sure how you're managing to kill it so fast. Mine's been unplugged for 6 hours. Did about 40 minutes of Pandora and tons of web browsing. GPS on, Wifi on, Auto brightness. Battery's at 50%. Pandora and most of the web browsing was done on 3G.

Hey Evoites (or are we Evonians, Evotions, Evomaniacs or some other designation?), your experiences would be far more valuable if you start your battery observations from a full charge and phone reboot, then post the up time and awake time in addition to how you used the phone. Awake time might be the single biggest factor in battery life.

I think people might've gotten stuck with bad batteries (someone in this thread mentioned they took it to Sprint and they told them the battery was bad), the deviation in usage is absolutely incredible. I charged mine up to full power today and took it off around 2. I have everything on except bluetooth and 4g (no 4g yet). I've installing/uninstalling apps, re-doing wallpapers/themes, checking out various browsers, etc about 70% of the time since then. My uncle is thinking about getting one, and I sat there and did a full out demonstration of everything I could think of for over an hour. Its been idle for about 45 minutes now, its at 15%. I'm going to run it down and then see how it does with heavy use tomorrow starting at 8 am.

I dont care about how 'bad' the battery is...i came into this phone knowing 1.its a smartphone. and 2. id need to make changes....but just like with the pre i have ordered a extra battery and with my use of the phone as well as using the car charger to and from work im sure two batteries will be more than enough..i refuse to walk around constantly worried about battery life...just make some changes on the phone..get a extra battery and call it a day...i love this phone.

I'm impressed. I used the phone today. Harder than I normally would.

  • Got up at 6:35, reading JuicePlotter's graph, did some web browsing 10 minutes unplugged before hooking it to the computer.
  • It came off at 7:30, Trying to analyze a bluetooth issue I drove most of the way to work streaming Pandora without being plugged in.
  • Also made a couple of short calls.
  • I charged at 84% and 9minutes later it was at 86%.
  • I got all my morning texts out the way, checked emails as they came in made a few forum posts, did some web browsing.
  • At 12:30 battery was 68%.
  • Charged while drivng to get lunch for 20 minutes which brought it to 75%.
  • Back at work I followed a live blog about the iPhone refreshing every few seconds, connected to Wi-Fi but with a weak signal.
  • Watched part of a movie for 20minutes when I got bored of that and did some more web browsing.
  • Same deal as the morning, texts, email with a few calls thrown in too.
  • Stayed a little late at work and didn't plug in until 5:40 with 26% left.

With this kind of use my Pre would probably need to be charged by 3.
I say probably because I would never use the Pre like this knowing what would happen.
I normally ended my day with the Pre below 20% but at the rate is consumes the battery 20% doesn't last long at all.
