Root Joey's Kernel - DE03 - SDX

there are 2 joeykrim-SDX-kernel v2.0.3 (includes root)
Stock DE03 Kernel | joeykrim-SDX-root-v7

and it seems joey recovery 3.0.8 which I installed is no longer an option. there is either forcystos or joeykrim

As of right now, you want this kernel: joeykrim-SDX-kernel-2.0.3
I use Joey's 2.1.3 recovery, you can use forcystos 3.1.1, which is based on Joey's with just a few more options, the options that are included are too advanced for me at this point. I use Joey's because I assume that he mainly test his kernels using that recovery. The recovery is the least important part of the equation, however you should have one of them, just don't get hung up on the version numbers. Also, Joey's highest recovery is 2.1.3 the 3.0.8 was forcystos.

I posted this in another section, I am trying to learn where my questions go here, sorry if I'm not doing it right.

I tried to root my phone by reinstalling the original 2.1, then added the joey custom tar files and tried again and when I got to the download screen for the software to dwnld to the phone, it said

"can't find bin"

What does this mean and how do I get past it?

Also I copied the custom kernel file to my sd card while in my phone and tried to reboot phone using the dwn vol, call end and send call buttons and had no luck doing that either, need some help pls!

Thanks

are you using the new SWUpdater? if so, you'll need to patch it to install the recovery tar. after you install the recovery tar, it makes it easier to flash kernels.

recovery is volume down, call, end buttons - hold when first turning on phone.

I think I am using the new SWUpdater, How can I tell? I just downloaded the new 2.1 about a week or so ago. Where can I get the patch pls?

Thanks
Click on the About menu option & check the date. If it is the newer SWUpdater, it will have a date of May 14,2010 ( or a date very close to that). If it's the older one, I believe it will have around Feburary 14th.

Hey guys,

I added the recovery mode and the custom theme template. I was just about to apply Joey's zip when I had a question.

Should I clear davlik cache AGAIN when I boot into recover mode this second time? (Remember, I already did it once when applying the custom theme template.)

Thanks!
Eph

I did successfully root my phone last night, THANK YOU to everyone for you help. I have a couple of follow up questions.

When texting, is there anyway to change the font, cant find it if there is?
In the battery usages area it shows android is using like 90% is there a way to cut that down?
Lastly can i delete the following 1. the update.zip file on the root of the sd card? 2. connectbot?

Thanks again everyone, you guys and ladies too are great!

I don't know about Connectbot, but you can certainly remove the update.zip from the sd card.
