Help turn off gmail at night

With my old Windows phone, there was a simple setting that lets me set a time that the email will come to my phone. I usually had it set to check email from 8am to midnight, as i don't need my phone going off all night and waking me up. I have searched all over this phone, and cannot find an option to turn off gmail at night. Is there a way to do this, or am i going to have to get an app to do this?

Your answer lies in the Mail app, NOT the GMail app. There are two apps available for mail on the EVO, Mail and GMAIL. The Mail app is more customizable. Remember, if you use the Mail app, deselect GMail for syncing under Settings, Accounts & Sync, Google. Good luck.

So using Mail instead of Gmail will be the same? I will still get push email immediately, and have all the options that the gmial app has?

Timeriffic, in the Market. Won't shut down Gmail, but does let you turn off notifications at user selectable time periods.
Well I tried that, and the only option it has is to disable ALL notifications. I still want to be able to receive texts, in case my work or someone needs to contact me. I just dont want to be getting emails all night

yeah, there's several ways to disable notifications just for email. you can...

A) disable mail syncing. to do this for the gmail app
menu > settings > accounts and sync > Google > uncheck "sync gmail"

alternatively, if you still want to receive email, you can just turn off notifications for the app

B) open gmail app > menu > settings > uncheck "email notifications"
enabling vibrate will still send a sound out if your phone is set to ring instead of just vibrate.

what i find most odd about this phone is that if you put the phone on vibrate, neither the email (gmail app) nor txt mssgs vibrate unless vibrate is checked for both apps. although, i remedied this for txt messages by installing sms popup. now if i put my phone on vibrate, i get vibration whether it's checked in the message app or not.

honestly, i actually never use the vibrate functions anyway. it's either silent, or sound.

thanks!

I don't know how you cant see it, it's exactly as spelled out. Hit menu, then Settings, then Accounts and Sync, then hit your Gmail account, then uncheck the box next to Sync Email.
