Would you get the EVO if it was on AT&T?

Honestly, I would have stayed with AT&T if they had the Evo simply out of habit and indifference...I had service through a succesion of companies that eventually became AT&T, 32 years worth..yes you read that right. The only phones I ever got were the free ones from them..never cared about phones and all the jazz about this new or that new one....all I wanted was to make a call every now and then.

Imagine if you will the famous bone scene in Kubrick's "2001"...the most famous flash cut in film history depicting transendence, transformation, evolution and the passage of time, all in the blink of an eye..the bone thrown by the ape turns into an orbital weapons platform..in one instant on film.

Thats what happened to me on Friday at 845am..from ape to MAN

I'm just as crazy as you guys now

Long live this board and all of you..and who really gives a shit about the battery life.

We got the King and he packs Android :)

I guess I'm the only one that had far better service with AT&T than what I'm getting with Sprint. This is a big city, all carriers should have good coverage. Sprint's 3G has been all but useless to me and voice coverage hasn't been all that great either.

I always used to complain about AT&T's service (dropped calls, etc) but honestly I'd love to take my Evo back to them.

I've used every carrier, and unlike 95% of most people I actually travel out of the near by state and country. AT&T is fine, their customer service is fine, and so is their network. The sheep hate against them is cute though.

AT&T is OK, there customer service is OK. I'll have to disagree about the network. Although several of my friends are fine with AT&T and get great reception, I was one that did not. Dropped calls and text message failure are not OK - especially during a business call.

Have any of you guys been to Vegas during a big event, like a boxing match or something? AT&T sucks at that point. I always thought that there were soo many iphone users that the network couldn't handle it. Good luck trying to get a call out then!

I couldn't wait to leave ATT and frankly I am cheap so Verizon was no different except they had no good android phones back then. I get a good signal and call quality is fine on Sprint and use data more than anything else. Having said that some folks have family plans and talk for free to ATT subscribers. Combined billing. There are a host of reasons why people choose the provider they have. So people will buy the Dell Lightning or whatever the Android version will be close to the Evo.

Just had another thought.

For me, the switch was mainly about going to a provider that actually worked. i.e. no dropped calls, better service, more uptime etc. Obviously the EVO was a big plus to coming back to sprint - and the slightly lower monthly service charge didnt hurt either...

But then I thought - Would I buy the EVO if it was on ATT? Probably not. I'd probably head over to verizon and pick up the incredible, or wait for the another phone on sprint or something. Hell, the dell mini 5 looks pretty good, just really big (that's what she said) but it's on AT&T, and i do NOT want to go back to poor quality of service.

So, that said, I just wanted to check with you guys. Would you purchase the EVO if it was on another carrier? Was the purchase about the device? or was it about the service? Both?
