Ok, laugh all you want, but I am stumped as to where the "market" is. I seem to find a few mentions of it on Google and I even created an account there, but I was expecting a searchable market from my PC to download apps. (How it works on a BB, although you can download OTA too).

I would expect to find this sort of thing in the FAQ or a "Newbee read this first", but the FAQ seem to be lacking as of now.

Here are my stupid questions:

1. Is the Market only accessible from your device?
2. Is there one market or lots of markets, including markets for different providers?
3. Is this Market searchable from a PC?
4. Are any basic apps included on a device?

These are the only apps I use on my Blackberry, I think most are available on "the Market", if I could find it, I could check myself :)

Phone
Email (Yahoo)
WunderRadio
FaceBook
Calendar
Contacts
ColorID
SmrtGuard
Google Maps
Opera Mini
UrbanSpoon

the actual google website for browsing market online is poor, here is a good alternative though,

AndroLib, Find all applications and games available in the Android Market for your Android Phone, HTC Dream, HTC Magic etc...

but you can search and do pretty much everything you will ever need to do from your android device.

whilst there aren't different markets, the market does know what device you have and what apps aren't compatible and won't show those to you, also it can vary between countries (if you are in a country google won't accept payment from)

and most (probably all) of those apps have alternatives on android, htough presonally the built in webkit browser is better than opera mini

Another good site I use is AppBrain: AppBrain - the best Android apps and games on the Android market
Download the AppBrain app from the Market onto your phone. Appbrain uses your Google account as login, so if you're on the computer, you can select the apps you like, then when you're on your phone, open Appbrain and you'll see the apps you've picked on the computer and you can install them. Appbrain will direct you to the Market for the apps you want to download
