Home replacements with 2.2 Froyo

I am a Sweeter Home Preview 2 user, and there's just no leaving it behind for these so-called "new and improved" home-replacement apps. I have my SH theme tweaked perfectly for me ... it's taken months! 5 custom portrait screens and 3 landscape screens with custom icons, hidden trays, widgets and triggers, etc., etc...

And it seems that SH isn't compatible with Froyo. At least, not the first 2.2 ROM I tried. I might install the latest release and see if it's any better. I love the new 2.2 updates, but not at the cost of losing Sweeter Home. :(

So far, I've been disappointed with FC's from all the Home Replacements. I don't even really like using ADW, Helix, etc. because of FC's. Pete's BB stock works just fine for me, I'll stick with that until there's a reason to switch.

Try launcher pro. It is every stable and very very fast. It has four extra icons on the bottom that you can change by long pressing them. In advanced options you can add an additional row of normal icons for a total of 8 extra homescreen icons. (this extra row messes up the landscape homescreen---but I never use that anyway).

I have a great sweeter home set up as well, but found it to be a bit unstable.

Where is the option to add the additional row of homescreen icons? Not seeing it.... Thanks.

i like home ++ but it crashes like a mofo on my device so i've been sticking to the stock stuff.

I remember using it months ago and liked how it hid the status bar and the power strip at the bottom was cool. But, in no way is it faster than LP, Helix or ADW (in addition to them rarely FCing). No offense, but with the options out now, I've no idea why anyone would still be using Home++ ;)

I was using Home++, then tried Sweeter Home Beta 2, then went to HelixLauncher, and am now on LauncherPro.

Home++ was good, except that you can't change the dock buttons. It also is not compatible with Live Wallpapers (at least not when I was using it). And it force closed on me about twice a day.

Sweeter Home Beta 2 was awesome, but I just couldn't figure out how to properly customize it. It has a very steep learning curve and with working a full time 40-50 hours a week, owning my own business, and going to school full time, I just didn't have the time to learn how to customize it.

HelixLauncher is an awesome launcher. Customizable dock, Live Wallpapers, speed, and many more features made it a really good launcher. However, LauncherPro is better (IMO).

LauncherPro is the best launcher I have found. It is extremely fast, very customizable, compatible with Live Wallpapers, has a customizable dock (you can even change the icon to whatever you want), and has never force closed on me.

With all that said, when I finally get 2.2 I will try the stock launcher, but have a feeling that it just will not stand up to LauncherPro. So, to answer your question, I will probably end up using LauncherPro instead of the stock launcher.

Using Froyo for a few days. I've tried all of the Home Replacements that I am aware of.

Was using Home++ and wanted live wallpapers, switched over to ADWLauncher last night. Used it last night and most of the day today, it was running great and then it started having major issues. Would freeze up and had to battery pull. First I thought it might have been the Live Wallpaper (Aquarium. loved seeing fish swimming around). Uninstalled the Aquarium and that didn't help, still freezes that resulted in having to perform a battery pull. Switched back to LauncherPro and I really hope it is more Froyo-friendly than ADW.

I'm curious if the other Froyo users are having issues with any of the Home Replacements like I had with ADW?

I really miss home++ honestly. I've been using helix lately after home ++ started getting buggy as hell on me. If the dev would just update/fix home ++, I'd still use it and I feel it would be one of the most popular ones out there.

But alas it was not meant to be. I'll use helix until I upgrade to 2.2, then I think I'll give stock a chance.

What he said. I loved Home++ but after a while it started to lag and FC a lot. Then I started using both HelixLaunchers after I rooted b/c you could customize the app drawer icon. I've since used both ADW and LauncherPro. To me, LauncherPro is the winner. It's been the smoothest launcher, gives me the 3D app drawer (either 4 or 5 column), and is very easy to customize (rooted or otherwise). And there's plenty of customizing options available, too.

I am using Launcher Pro Plus with my Froyo Droid. I like having the scrollable dock icons and also each one has a swipe function that allows for a secondary app to be opened with a swipe instead of a press. :D

Also, swiping screens back and forth and scrolling through my apps in the app drawer seems faster when I use LPP instead just regular Froyo Home.

i am currently on the early release of froyo and running launcher Pro. i tried Home++ and also ADW launcher, and nothing compairs to LP. been using it for a couple weeks now with ZERO forced closes, very customizable, very fast, love the 3D app drawer, love the screen preview feature.

i may give SH a try just to check it out....but it is going to have to be amazing for me to give up my LP.

the only problem i see with LP is there is some lag when i go back to the home screen from the market...but i was getting this with the stock launcher, and the stock launcher was slower to get the icons back up, so i am happy with LP for now
