Help Wake up screen without power button?

i've been using nolock and it's working well. i use the seidio innocase so the buttons are well protected and rarely get unintentionally pressed. therefore, not having the lock screen is no issue.

the only thing i don't like is when a call comes in, it dumps directly to the call answer screen (with the red answer button). i guess this makes sense since the lock screen is totally bypassed but i like how the lock screen handles incoming calls...

I'm a new user of the Evo. Is it not possible to hit no buttons at all? What I'd really like is for it to simply be a Touch+Hold Then Slide to bring it back up. Without having to hit any physical buttons. Perhaps I am doing something wrong, but with all the apps mentioned above when my phone went to sleep I still had to hit a physical button to bring it up. Any advice/info would be appreciated.

itd be nice if it had some type of a heat sensor like the one used when you have the phone against your face when it turns the screen off. That way a touch will at least light the screen up so I can slide the lock button down. That would make my life so much easier..

That's not a heat sensor, it is a proximity sensor. It's right next to the ambient light sensor below of the left part of the earpiece. If you place a phone call and simply put something close or over that part the screen will go off.

re: screenmodewidger. yes, i can confirm also that the volume keys wake up the device when in "no lock" mode. i installed the older version and not the lite or pro versions. i also checked to see that when the phone is supposedly sleeping in the "no lock" mode, it looks like the phone does actually sleep according to awake/uptime counts.

definitely liking screenmodewidget over nolock at this point.

I have been using this app on and off for the last week. One thing I did find out is that while using Sprint TV with nolock on, you push the power button and turn off the screen but still listen to the program audio.
the reason I post this is because I was at work and wanted to listen to the World Cup games on ESPN with out anyone else knowing what I'm doing (my boss would consider it "watching" tv).
If you do not use the nolock app, then Sprint TV will stop. I am sure this would apply for other apps that normaly would shut off when you press the power button.

awww MAN!!! Dangit I have been using nolock for a week now, and not that it bothers me but the phone is kind of large to reach up and wake with the power button, and I always enjoyed waking my iPhone with the home button.

Dag Nabbit, Motha#&T*@0 son of a B&$^*(@!!!! GRRRR.

Volume Rocker DOES wake the phone, &*%$ I'm an idiot. Thanks ppl.

I d/l an app called "no lock". Let's you use the volume button to wake up the phone. never use the power button except to turn off the phone now.

THANK YOU. I'll press the "thanks" but I'm mentioning this because it is best for some people. I think I prefer it, but it's definitely better for my parents now using Android phones and having a hard time with the lock screen on their Heroes.

Thanks Again!

Widget Locker in the market.

By far the best investment I've made for my Evo. It creates a HIGHLY customizable lock screen, no battery drain and if you download SMS unread count, (free in the market) you can place widgets on the lock screen for gmail, missed calls and messaging (can use the Android green smiley face). Dev responds personally to all inquiries.
