I would like to update to 2.2 perhaps using nexfro but when i tried installing the update.zip nothing happened. Maybe its because im trying to update from rooted 2.0.1. Apologize in advance if this situation has already been posted but could anyone help

Hey Kenjuu.

I'm loving 2.2 and I think you will too, so let's see if we can get a bit more information on what is going on here. I assume that you are using SPRECOVERY to install this? When you say that nothing is happening at what point is this at? Does it appear to be installing but when you reboot it hasn't installed? Or does absolutely nothing happen when you try to install update.zip.

If you are using SPRECOVERY are you selecting to allow update.zip before trying to install it?

I think with a bit more information someone here can get you up and running in no time.

If using SPR and already rooted, why not just download ROM manager from the market, and install BB v.01 from ROM manager. Just make a backup to SPR before doing anything. When you flash the new ROM make sure your wiping data and cache.

Oh one other thing. For some reason after flashing ROM manager Ive noticed that when you go to flash the new ROM sometimes it will reboot the phone and freeze with the Motorola symbol. Just drop your batter. Reboot. Flash ROM manager again,(will take a second this time) . Now you should be good to flash 2.2

Are you wiping data and cache before you install? This is a must!!

ive downloaded rom manager and downloaded BB v1.1 with the 1.2 Ghz kernel. Instead of using SPRecovery i switched to clockworkmod recovery. I clear out the data and cache and still end up stuck on the motorola symbol.. i'm about to try a 1 Ghz kernel and see if it fixes the problem. thanks for the help, i know im getting closer

lol - not quite my intention, but I guess thanks?

ok. so i got BB v1.1 to stick with no problems but that leave me at 2.1 what should i do now.

I am not using clockworkmod, but I guess the question now is which froyo (2.2) ROM are you trying to install? Have you tried others? BB 0.1 Froyo with no mods is simple, fast and thus far for me very stable. Just make sure you are getting the proper one as Pete is also working on one for the EVO.
