For about three nights now, ever since i got the digital clock app by notes (its a sweet clock app that makes the screen look like a classic simple digital clock, lovin it!) I've been leaving my x10 charged overnight (the digital clock app also doesnt lock screen when the phones plugged in and i like the look of it). Couple times the phone was asking me to recharge anyways but tonight i started charging with about half the battery still alive and im going to leave it overnight. It is very convenient because i never have to worry about the phone dying during the day any more.
Anyways, i did some reading here n there n there are mixed opinions and facts about overcharging li-po batteries. Anyone out there with some definitive answer? Is it a bad habit and should i stop doing it, or does it not matter? Am i killing the battery life span and/or damaging the phone itself somehow?
Appreciate your help!

Lithium Ion
These are the latest and most expensive rechargeable batteries. They cost a lot of money at present, partly because the battery includes electronic charge and discharge control circuitry. They have an excellent power/weight ratio, and do not need to be discharged at all. In fact the electronics inside them stops them doing so! Li-Ion batteries cost a lot, can be topped up repeatedly without ill effects, and last for around 1,000 charge cycles. As they age, the capacity falls away gradually, so the point at which they are worn out is hard to define. They should last a few years for most people using them in a mobile phone, particularly if you don't have to waste charge cycles conditioning them.

I allways charge it for abut 3h with network off, that's when it's full ,and i got a really good life span ,with music and talking ...and some playing 3-4days ,i even got 5 days ;i allways drain the battery !
From what i know about batt ,especially li-po ones ,they tend to explode or oversize themself when left over night too many times !

They aren't the newest, there is a newer type out involving magnesium, I can't remember what it's called or what their deal is, I just know they exist.

Everything else you said is true though, Li-Ion batteries are very, very good and are used in most cell phones.

OP, you don't have to worry about overcharging, once the phone reaches 100%, it will stop charging and start running on battery until the battery decreases to 90%, then it will charge back up to 100% and so on.

The X10 phone doesn't allow you to overcharge your phone.
The phone manages the charging. When you plug it in it will charge up to 100%. Once it is fully charged the phone stops the battery from receiving charge. If you look at your phone in the middle of hte night it will probably be at 95% and not chraging.
Once the charge in the battery drops below a certain level (I don't know what it is but I think it's around 90%) it allows the battery to charge again.
You can tell it's charging because the notification LED should be on. don't be surprised when you pick up the phone in the morning and the LED is off and the phone isn't charging.
