Okay, so Im like 100% sure I wanna root now. But I wanna do it right and need the instructions, let me run down what I hope to accomplish by rooting and then you can try to help me.

1. Im not on froyo yet, should I wait til I get it to root? I dont want it to affect the update. If it wont, I'll just do it asap.

2. I wanna root and get rid of a couple stock apps. Amazon has to go. This means I wanna free up internal memory.

3. I dont care much about custom ROMs. I just wanna root so I have more control over the device, but I do want 720p recording.

Can anyone help me do this? I know with froyo you can save apps to your sd card so I wont add that to the mix. Also the whole tethering thing comes with Froyo.

now when u root im almost positive u wont recieve the froyo update which aint a problem since u can just flash it in recovery anyways. You can get rid of some stock apps but it depends on the ROMS u use and if a Dev made a Mod to remove these unless u know how to do that. Once u root, you'll start doing more than u think. On the froyo that is released u will have to Force ur Apps2SD in ADB but then it will work fine...... I know this is alot but you'll figure it out. This was my first android phone and I m pretty good as some of this root stuff. This should help u with anything u need to know.

i would recommend Amon Ra recovery 1.7.1 and Cyanogens 5.0.8 is coming out soon with the 720p recoding. Unless u wanna stay stock and use the Mods for that. Like i said XDA Developers is your friend..lol just make sure u search for questions already asked or they will roast u.
