Have any guys, who are having this problem, checked with a female to confirm that they see the "pink" hue as well? (Ishihara Test for Color Blindness)

Red-green color blindness/deficiency is pretty common among males. The condition has a wide range of severity, but it can convince your mind that muted grays, such as those that appear at low brightness, are light-red/pink when they are actually gray and convince you that muted greens are actually gray. Depending on the saturations and contrasts on the phone, this issue could be an illusion that results from a genetic predisposition.

It is VERY rare for females to have red-green color blindness because the affected genes are mostly on the X chromosome. So, I'd check to make sure a chick sees the pink hue before returning the phone.

I understand what you're getting at, as a close friend of mine is red-green color blind. It's to the point of where he has to observe the position of the light on street lights.

I've shown this to multiple people of both genders and they see it too.

I put a Moto Droid and a HTC Incredible next to each other. The Droid displays gray while the Incredible displays a pinkish gray. I have a Droid available to me whenever I need it for testing

Yeah, I can see how that might get annoying. I wonder what's causing it. That would definitely cause me to return the phone again and again until I got one without that issue.

I only get pink if i crank the brightness all the way down - out of sight, out of mind.

Then you can't use it outdoors if you turned your brightness down. Doesn't make sense if we ignore these problems.

I discovered a serious flaw in the OS checking for the pink screen:
I did the HTC website test. Put mine at zero brightnesss. Hit the home button and went about my business.
40 minutes later, my phone's battery got fully exhausted.
Flash Lite is still running in the background; looping that animation.

I can see where this could be a problem for many, many, many consumers. I know people with G1s/other Android phones who never, ever downloaded any task-killers.
This can ruin the user-experience.

I have two phone, well one for me and one for my G/F. Right off the bat I noticed her screen was quite a bit brighter than mine. Either at lowest brightness setting or highest, hers is always brighter.

The other thing that was very noticeable was her screen has a pink hue to it, much more noticeable at lower brightness settings. I pointed it out to her right away and fortunately she can careless about it. Thank god it was on her phone, because if my screen had the pink hue I would send it right back.

If nothing else, this at least proves the pink hue exists, but not every incredible suffers from it.

I'm not following you on that.. the brightness for outside needs to be up near max brightness for best visibility, not turned down. And, given that i see no pink at my usual 50% brightness indoors, yes, I can ignore it.

Either way, this isn't a defect, so much as an "unwelcomed" aspect of AMOLED screens.

My replacement arrived the other day and comparing the phones side by side I could tell he new one has the pink hue that is only noticeable at lower brightness. I may be nitpicking but I do not have insurance and was within my 30day return so I am just trying to get a quality piece before my time runs out and I am stuck. Now the problem is that 611 customer service does not recognize this as a problem so you have to go in store and hope the tech can see what you see, and if not you need the store manager to authorize your return.

I think if htc could identify the batches that have pink they could push an ota update to fix it, most likely just a slightly different panel used to meet production demands.

I know some are pink. I can side by side 2 Incredibles (one mine, one my wife's) and hers is looks white and mine has a pinkish tinge to it. I have used numerous applications and websites to confirm this.

I don't notice it when I'm using it though so I don't worry about it too much. As long as I can get 2 years out of the phone I really don't care because by then something more "Incredible" will be available and I will snatch it up...

There is clearly a PINK hue issue. My original Inc on the left and new replacement on the right (brightness was the same). One is CLEARLY nasty pink and one is true colored and nice and gray.

Well I called Verizon and told them about the pink screen problem some of us are having. Of course they have never herd of this but I did get a replacement out of them. At first they tried to find a solution and have factory reset your phone and do other useless steps to try and fix it. Unless you wanna sit on the phone with tech support for two hours do what I did and confuse the hell out of the Verizon rep. They tried looking it up in there system with no luck until I told him to Google search "HTC incredible pink screen" once he saw the issue soooo many people are having he immediately put in the order for my replacement phone and threw in 1 day shipping. So for all the people with pink screens that think you can live with it as I though I could do yourself a favor and call Verizon and in 15 min you will have a replacement being sent to your house. Just make sure you act confident and explain in detail the problem and how you tried to fix it so you don't sit on the phone for two hours and are forced to do a factory reset and lose everything until your new phone arrives. I hope everyone with pink screen calls for there replacement that they are entitled to since its rather easy to get a new phone from verizon. That's the end of my rant and all I'm saying is the time everyone spends on this thread complaining about there pink screen could be used to get your new incredible.
