Free EVO at radio shack one week after buying HTC Hero

i got the htc hero just a few days ago and started a 2 year contract with sprint. i wanted the evo but it was just a bit out of my price range at the moment and i couldn't stand being with att any longer.

Radio shack announced that it is giving away free phones on father's day regardless of the plan you choose. i know i have 30 days to CANCEL my service but is there any way to turn in my hero for an evo?!?!?!

please help me out!

I do believe that is just a T-mobile thing, I have seen it everywhere. Don't get your hopes up.

Sorry, I was wrong. I guess I need to read the news first thing in the morning eh.

Now with that said, just return it and if they have any Evo's get the Evo. You have 30 day satisfaction guarantee. The only problem I can see is they won't have any Evo's, and prolly won't let you order it for free, but it's worth a shot.

another possible problem is that i got the phone through amazon and not through radio shack, best buy, sprint, etc. would that be a problem?

i have also rooted the phone to fresh 2.1.2 should i set it back before returning it?

You need to set it back yes, don't want to get a black flag on your account.
I would just call radio shack and ask them what your options are. Or you could call amazon and find out what your options are, and if anything just get the new phone and return the Hero on Monday. Either way you always have that 30 day guarantee, it just depends on which way you exercise it.

It only applies to T-Mobile phones guys.... Radio Shack would be nuts to think they can afford to give away Iphone's and EVO'S all day long

you would need to return it to amazon according to amazon guidelines, then get the phone at radioshack.

Again I guess I need to read the whole news in the morning not just the header

I guess you could return the Hero and get a T-MO my touch 3g :rolleyes:
