Official 4G/WiMAX Coverage Areas

Sorry if this has been asked already but I couldn't find an existing thread.

Does anyone have any educated guesses on when we'll have 4G access in New York? I'm in Manhattan and I'm patiently waiting. Ok not THAT patiently.

The people at the Sprint store won't commit to any dates. They we'll have it "some time this summer". Anyone else know more?

Thanks!

I heard the same. Sometime this summer; which is a hell of a lot better than sometime next year.

I just saw this thread yestuday so i decided to sign up, that and I have the evo 4g, great device. Now to the question, I told my dad who is actually working on the 4g networks in miami, and i told him about how a radio shack rep told you that 4g should be in miami by end of july, my dad laughed and said it was a lie, he told me sprint wants his company to have 400 sites up by Dec 2010, and that even though they have a few up and fully finished that they can not run the 4g networks until all 400 sites are up, and he also told me sprint is having some problems getting the materials out, so i hope this doesnt delay 4g down here in miami.

I've had my evo since launch day, and they had it turned on in Cool Springs, as we were demoing it in the Bestbuy out there. They have been turning the signals on and off over the last two weeks, i guess doing testing.

Some days i go out at lunch and get full bars sitting at Royal Thai in brentwood (near maryland farms), the next day i'm at the Target on Old Hickory, and nothing. So i think the must be testing and switching the towers on and off.

Either way, it's a good sign of things to come.

Is your dad working for Clearwire or an installation company under contract to Clearwire?

I see Juno Beach on that list, but the guy I talked with at the sprint store said 4g will not be up here till December. heres to hoping he was wrong.

Funny you mentioned December. My asst. store manager and I were talking about 4G, and he said he talked to someone at one of the repair centers, and said that we should have it by December. He also said they are starting at Daytona I think it was, and going from the East half way across the state, and then blanket down the rest of the state spreading out to both sides. So thats 2 people that say December, and like sprint said, 120 million people by end of year. We just have to see.

so im curious to know, everybody who is picking up 4g connections, does your data still work? or does it not go through at all unless you turn it off? i can pick up a 4g signal here in stockton, 1-2 bars but it stops data from going through so i have to turn it off and switch back to 3g

Hmm, I haven't tried, but next time i find a spot, will test that out.

Thx.
