Slow power-off on device

Right, question.

Has anyone else noticed that the Desire seems to power off VERY VERY slowly, or is it just me? Literally, and with no exaggeration, I hit the power button on the phone to power it down at 10:38am, and as of 10:56am the thing is STILL trying to power off.

I don't turn the phone off very often, but every now and then it's worth it, but it's taking far too long and I keep having to pull the battery. Anyone got any thoughts?

I'm assuming theres an app that is causing all the bother, but I can't think what. Anyone know of any apps that have this sort of problem? If noone knows, I'm going to have to factory-reset the phone, and I really don't want to have to set it all up again.

Thoughts?

Hmm. I'll give those a try later. Amazing to think it's the SD card - no other phone has this issue. My old Samsung Galaxy shut down in an expedited manner with both the internal AND external SD cards mounted.

It's very possibly ATK though... which is a bummer as I use it a lot.

And yeah, i COULD just leave the phone on, but i reset it once every couple of weeks to cure the memory leakage problem. Also, since the update got pushed out, I've been noticing infrequent problems with it dropping the network, or the 'net connectivity, or just not sending texts or something. Seems the only way to fix these annoying little issues is to reboot.

Sorry, I should of been more clear. By cache I mean the one for the internet on the handset. I gained 22mb of internal storage space the first time I did this (even though the cache max was set to 6mb in the settings) and the shutdown time went down from 3 minutes to 6 seconds.

Clearing the cache regular since then has kept the shutdown time low for me.

Note: The first time you shut down after the initial cache clear you will still have the delayed shutdown. After reboot ..I noticed the improvements from then on, including the re-gained internal storage space.

This worked for me, hope it works for some of you.
