I found a thread on this at XDA. Wiredforless.com is selling this car mount for $5 with coupon code WOOT + $5 flat rate shipping. I ordered two of them and with shipping it came out to $14.98.

You'll have to apply a disc to the phone (or case). I'll post pics and comments when it arrives, but I have no idea how long that coupon code will last. Saves you $20 per device!

Hell of a tip. Thank you very much jmxp69!

Anyone considering buying one of these should follow the link and watch the video.
German made, extends out, very adjustable....just what I was looking for.

I just scored 3 of em shipped for 20 bucks.
(what a rush watching my shopping cart total drop from $80 down to $20 with the simple addition of a coupon code) :D

I just don't like the idea of attaching something to my phone or case.

I'm generally not a fan of that either, but I received that red rubberized case from ebay today and I'll be happy to stick a disc on there and use it for road trips and such. I doubt I'll have my Evo in the car mount unless I'll be in the car for a while. So cheap plastic case with disc on for road trips, Innocase for day-to-day carrying around. This mount certainly looks more elegant than big bulky universals.

But hey, whatever floats your boat. I will not stick discs on my phone, only on a case.

umm... why would you need two car mounts for each car? Couldn't the passenger just hold their phone while using it?

If that was the case, why doesn't the driver hold he phone while using it? The whole point of a mount is having somewhere to "mount" the phone so you dont have to hold it. When charging would you just leave it in your lap or let it slide around on the center console?

got my mounts in today and install went quick. mounting the base onto the center console bezel with the double sided tape seems pretty damn sturdy but the disc that mounts to the back of the phone came apart when trying to remove the phone from the mount. i was kind of worried about it before the install because the seidio active case has like a rubberized finished to it so i was pretty much right about the double sided tape not wanting to bond well. a couple dabs of the rubberized gorilla glue seems like it's a whole lot more secure so once it cures i'll update you guys. other than that, the quality of the mount is pretty good.

Welp, looks like this doesn't work with the Evo. The soft-rubberized coating on the back prevents the mounting discs from adhering well. In order for this to work you need a case that isn't rubberized.

I think I'm going to purchase a clear snap-on (back only) case to attach the disc to, and just keep that mounted in the car.

Send Brian (who's really helpful, he's the owner of the company) an e-mail telling him you have an Evo and he'll send you a couple mounting discs if you need extra or allow you to return it.

Received mine today and must say that they are very nice and minimalist.

Definitely a score!

But then again there is the rubberized Evo battery cover problem.
I managed to screw up 2 of my discs before retreating to check back to his thread.

If you could message me Brian email address I'd be very appreciative. I'd even pay for some extra discs.
They are really tiny and I would have had no problem attaching it to the factory cover. Like was said before, it'll give a bit of protection to the camera lens when its laid down and really doesn't take away from the appearance of the device.

(if anyone has any great tips on a cheap, non rubberized, easy snap on/off back cover...lets hear it) :)

Guys, The ebay rubberized cases are hard plastic with a painted coating. Get your dremel out and sand the coating on the back of the case down to the plastic. Clean with alcohol, and stab that disc on.

Before you sand, place the disc on the case where you want it and draw an outline with a pencil around the disc so you know where to sand.

Unfortunately, I'm traveling today and tomorrow, so if mine arrived, I don't know it yet :(
