Root blackdroid removed for including wares

I'm running bd 4.0 now and I keep coming back to it. Regardless of what people are saying about who is copying who, this ROM is the fastest, most stable, and most complete 2.1 ROM that I have run to date. I have tried almost every ROM that appeared to be interesting, bet the bd 4.0 worked the best for me. I am a Linux geek (new to phones) so I have already heavily customized the bd 4.0 base that bd offered on alldroid. And I will continue to follow bd as he moves on with additional dev work. I have donated to his efforts (and Pete's as well) and I am a fan.

Thank you for your efforts blackdroid!

+1 I have tried many ROMS and in the end BD4.0 is my personal favorite. Cant we all enjoy what we like without our egos getting in the way?

Which is why blackdroid and Pete have already moved on, so should you (and everyone else).

This is an ex-issue. End the drama, and move on.

As blackdroid himself posted earlier in the thread he's made his home over at droidforums.net and has moved on. So should you.

Hey, thanks for letting me know I should move on. Whew. I was really trying to stick with this issue...Oh wait...move along, move along, nothing to see here. We should really move on. Pete and Blackdroid have. Move on now. :D

LOL Chevy anounced his AN HOUR AFTER MINE. lol

"I AM NEVER RETURNING TO ALLDROID"

I see now why the Sholes Team (Now DroidMod) and even Taz himself left the site.

I will from hencefrourth be developing at droidforums.net as "the blackdroid"

To be fare on this subject I told chevy about the ere25 because I wanted to see fi yhe could make an OC kernel.. He had COMPLETED THE KERNEL before most had even realized it was out.

Chevy did not copy off of you.. EVERY "dev" is now working with ERE25 and just moving there shit over (if they can). And you are seeing slow developement on that because it's not as compatable as some would think and these "rom devs" aren't able to port things without the help of other in most cases. Once the true basic devs get things working on ere25 I'm sure it will all be incorporated into everyones roms.

I missed when devs jsut created specific things, and as the user you fuond what you wanted and included these "hacks" in your system. Now we have rom devs just compiling things they find with a fix or 2 of there on here and there. This is making all roms at the herat.. EXACTLY the same, thanks to chevy and koush and greek (Zeus team) we're seeing originality again on the droid!

I actually downloaded this ROM before it got pulled. Some say it's because of warez, others because of other issues. Regardless, do any of you who are more experienced than I foresee any problems if I flash this ROM (I really did like the way it looked).?

5.5 should be coming out tomorrow night and should be a significant improvement, I'd wait till then and flash.

I'm glad you have found a new home and I hope you continue to develop for Android, but be original.

mmmmmm... yeah... I'm gonna have to kind of... go ahead and disagree with you there.

"Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination. Devour old films, new films, music, books, paintings, photographs, poems, dreams, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light and shadows. Select only things to steal from that speak directly to your soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic. Authenticity is invaluable; originality is non-existent. And don't bother concealing your thievery - Celebrate it if you feel like it. In any case, always remember what Jean-Luc Godard said: 'It's not where you take things from-it's where you take them to.'"

- Jim Jarmusch

Never forget what open source is about. People whine too much about "stolen" work, and they all seem to have forgotten that open source is about taking every last bit of work you've done and allowing the world to use it, trash it, mod it, and repackage it as THEY see fit.

The last thing this forum needs is bleed-over drama from alldroid. I say let the devs share their work however they want and wherever they want with as many people as they want to... no one cares where they got it from except for the people whos work they've used and made better. If the devs don't want to share the way open source was meant to be shared, there are two options. First and most obvious is "don't bother." Second, and the lesser of the two evils, is to post something about not letting others use your work, which has also been done on alldroid on at least one ROM that I am aware of. Neither of these would be as nice as honoring the true meaning of open source, but this crap with randomly banning members from the forum is ridiculous.

When I say be original I meant he should figure out his own changes and modifications do to his work. I fully understand what open source is and how it works. But for me to take Ubuntu and change some icons then release claiming I made everything wouldn't be a proper representation of it. But your right, this doesn't need to continue on here.

Hi May someone please closed this because BlackDroid is backup and running thats all I care about right now.

I always get a laugh out of someone who says, "I don't want to talk about this anymore, so no should be able to talk about it anymore...so close the thread so I don't have to read about it anymore!" Cuz, you know, you can't just go into your settings and delete the subscription...

Ok, everyone feel better?

These are the best looking ROMs I've tried and I've found the performance to be the slickest of them all. I've used Pete's BBeast from 7.5 to 0.4 and his ROMs were the reason I wanted to root in the first place, and who's to say I won't switch back. That's the beauty in this. We're completely free to do as we see fit.

Is really blackdroid's that good?

Its better than cyanogen but it didn't seem to touch bugless Beast in terms of speed.

Can someone tell me what happened between him and pete. I hear that the warez thing was simply a mistake.

And did chevy really leave alldroid?
And these are the days of our lives....

Sorry, sounded like a soap opera trailer... lol

Blackdroid was "borrowing" from other people w/o giving credit. This upset people. I liked black droids roms personally, but he is now several days/weeks behind others. And yes, chevy moved to droidfoums.net

and btw, next time don't bump a three month old thread, just start a new one.

I can't speak for the other guides (or Mods or Admins) but I'd rather this be posted to the 3 month old post than have yet another Blackdroid bashing thread.

And speaking of that, I don't think it need to be "rehashed" (outside of the new question that was asked).

Blackdroid went from AllDroid to Droid Forums...got kicked out of there (after a huge blowout with Cyanogen himself - see post below), started his own site and got in a tiff with the site owner (about stealing donations or something), and is now...well I don't know exactly where he is, but he is still putting out ROMs as far as I know. Those ROMs are not real popular here...so we don't hear much about them.
