  • Hey there, sorry to nag but I really wanna get this done asap.
    I'm stuck with this:
FAILED (remote: 43 main version check fail)
If you were already working on something to help me then sorry please ignore this, but yeah, been through about 4 errors and can't get past this one :'(
    Dear Scotty,
You just helped me with rooting, I am the one who had s-off and the revolutionary bootloader stayed through ota.
i am having a problem backing up ics
    The cwm verion is v4.0.4.1
and i read a post about cwm not backing up ics because i guess there are more than 10k files. But i didnt understand how they tried fixing it. Is there an easy way? i have ics and am not sure what is happening. the device hangs at backing up system and the bar is gray with not scrolling indicator. Please help, i want to try the official ics rom debloated and other roms.
I'm sure you don't remember me, but you helped me middle of 2012 with my first Tbolt after a friend rooted it. I have since gone on to the Galaxy Nexus (warranty replacement), but now my wife wants me to root her Tbolt.

Hopefully you don't mind me asking you a few questions: I am fairly set on using the tbolt tool to root this,
    1) do I need to downgrade first (she's on 2.11.605.19 710RD) the tool doesn't mention downgrading..
    2) do I have to have active service to do the root? I know to install the radios, rom and gapps I'll need to be in service...
    3) which gapps should I use GB/ICS

Thanks a ton for your time and experience. I remember you being a great instructor and very patient with the noob questions! Have a great weekend!

Hey Scotty, I have been following your advice in this thread:

    http://androidforums.com/one-s-all-things-root/634726-stuck-clockworkmod-recovery.html

I have a very similar problem to this person except I am stuck at the CWM recovery screen, meaning I cannot get fastboot to work. Adb works fine, and I have also posted this on the xda-developers forum:

    (First post of this page)

    forum.xda-developerscom/showthread.php?p=38480207&posted=1#post38480207

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
Hey Scotty85.. How are u doin?
I was looking for your universal guide to rooting using HTCDev but couldn't find it. Stupidly, I forgot to bookmark it the first time i read it. Can you please pass me on the link?
    Thanks :)
When I click on the link to download the data I need, I end up in a Media Fire and "Do you want to store data online for you for all different prices depending on how much stuff you want to store there! I feel like I am missing something and I couldn't find anyone else out there asking about that website in particular!
I am so frustrated that I can't even get to a link without having to ask someone why I am there and where on that site do I find the stuff I need to download to root my phone! I have gone to this site so many times and nothing seems to jump out at me. I really don't want to be a pain, it just seems to be working out that way!
    Please help!
Hi Scotty. You posted some help months ago and I can't seem to find the thread. I'm trying to unroot my girlfriend's phone....finally for real this time. I think I used easy root or something like that and I'd like to unroot. I've rooted my droid countless times in the past and also flash roms like crazy on my galaxy nexus, but since the only time i used the thunderbolt is maybe 9 months when I rooted it I need a step by step guide. thanks again
Hi. Sorry to bug you. What do you think? USB debugging always on, or keep it off and turn on only as needed.

I did not want to post this anymore, since I have read over two dozen threads on the subject. But from all the posts, I can't seem to figure out which is best.
Scotty, got a question for you. I am attempting to S-On my Rezound for warranty. You mention going back to the original RUU. You referring to the .exe file or .zip? Do I flash it in recovery as is or rename it to something else?
Hey Scotty, nschiwy from XDA pointed me in your direction for some help with my Droid Incredible ( need major help! Please read! - Page 2 - xda-developers). I have downloaded all the files from his post and am missing Zerg from yours... I really just need someone to talk me through it via skype... ANYTHING really because I messed up by just reading. Please get back to me. My skype (easiest way to reach me) is zach.roberts11 thank you in advance.

I loved your thread "2.3.4 root, downgrade, and s-off" for the Incredible, it worked out well for me in the end. However, I kept getting stuck with a red triangle/exclamation mark when I did the final 3.32 unrevoked after downgrading to Android 2.2. I figured out that it was trying to update to 2.3.4 while unrevoked was trying to run. To solve that problem I put it into airplane mode and had no other problems.
Just in case anyone else is tearing their hair out at the red triangle/exclamation error.
    THANKS!
