  • I think Handcent SMS is free download in the Android Market, it just displays the odd ad here and there but nothing obtrusive. Once its installed, when you enter the programs settings you have the option to change the notification tone within that app. Just remember to turn off all of the ticked options within the built in Samsung messaging app or you'll have 2 notifications everytime you receive a message
Hi, I'm not too sure about the notification ringtones anymore as I stopped using the default messaging app and chose to go with Handcent SMS instead which uses its own ringtone selection. One thing I'd suggest is look at the sound options in Settings as I know it's changed in Froyo and I know you can select the notifications to have the same volume as the voice call ringtone, just check that option and they should all work
Hi! I read ur reply regarding the changing notification ringtones. Hope you can help me with my problem. Since I upgraded to froyo, my cel doesn't ring anymore when I receive messages/notifications even when I select the built in tones. The voicecall ringtone seems to work just fine. But when I receive messages, my cel just vibrates but doesn't ring. Any Suggestions?
