Charging through a PC's USB port will be the slowest as the output is only 500MA. Wall Chargers are 750-1250MA.
Try using a different charger block, thats how mine was, switched to an iPad charger and it charges much faster.

Sounds like the radio interference is the wifi radio if peoples text messages go through when they turn off the wifi. I would think this is a bug...
