Sometimes you have to hold the power button much longer than 10 seconds. Just hold that sucker down for a good 30 seconds and see what happens.
That's pretty much all that has ever worked on mine. Recently the nearby events started working.
Hold the power button until it comes on. Sometimes it can take 30 seconds or so before it starts up.
