Is it odd that I don't have the System Update section in my About Phone in Settings?

I just noticed that the System Update section is entirely missing from my "About Phone" in settings. It was there when I was upgrading from ICS, since I spent a lot of time going there to "Check for Update". But now, even after a couple of reboots, it is just gone. Any thoughts?

YAY! Swiftkey 3 now uses Google's Voice Typing!

SK3 is adding Google's awesome Voice Typing for ICS and JB users!! That is all.

Is the lack of voice dialing from Google Now a result of the OTA?

When I press the voice input in Jelly Bean, and I say "dial [person in my contacts]", it just does a Google search for that. Is this the result of the OTA pushed to get around the patent issue? If so, is there a workaround?

Google Now "hijacks" my headset longpress

I love Google Now, but I need my headset longpress for other things. Is there unhook the headset controls from Google Now?

    A few GoSMS questions

I am coming from Chomp and can't figure out a few things. How do you get the keyboard to pop up automatically when entering a conversation? How do you get the pop up to come up over a lock screen? Not unlock it, but just come up over then go away when dismissed, leaving the lock screen. Why...

You *can* use ICS Voice Typing with Swiftkey, sort of . . .

A lot of us Nexus users would LOVE to use the new ICS voice typing feature while still using Swiftkey, preferably built right in as the default voice entry implementation. This is something SK is looking into (as far as I know, there are no third party keyboards which have implemented this...

Help Anyone getting photos a bit "washed out" when uploaded?

Here are two photos, one before I added back in some color and saturation. The edited version looks very much like it does on my phone, but when I uploaded my photos, they all seemed washed out and dead. Why would that be? The same was true whether I uploaded to Dropbox (keeping full size) or...

Help A multi-contacts widget for ICS?

I would like to have a 4x2 widget where I can scroll through my contacts, or just favorites, etc. (similar to the bookmarks widget), but I don't see anything like that in ICS stock. I could add LauncherPro Plus, which I have used on other phones, but I am trying to stay stock if I can. I have...

Really nice new ICS browser: Browser+

The Android sites have been tweeting this morning about a new variation of the ICS browser called Browser+: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.beansoft.browserplus#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDUwMSwiY29tLmJlYW5zb2Z0LmJyb3dzZXJwbHVzIl0. It is not an entirely new browser, like Dolphin, just the ICS...

Landscape photo aspect ratio and file sizes

Why is the aspect ratio for landscape photos so much narrower than my previous Android phones? They seem almost 4x3 rather than 16x9 (using TV terms). In actuality, the Nexus is 2592x1944 where my Thunderbolt was 2048x1225, so a lower pixel density for the TB, but a wider aspect ratio. The...

Setting my son up with my Droid

My son needs a phone and I am giving him my Droid, which is rooted and running CM. I will have to get him a gmail account and associate it with the phone, but will this require a factory reset of the phone? How will this be effected by the rooting? Will I have to re-root?

Update now available for me: worth it to lose free hotspot?

I just got back from vacation where I used the free wifi hotspot a LOT for my kids devices, but now I will not be using it as much. And I see that I can apply the new update now. But is it worth it? I don't have many restarts, I don't have a huge GPS problem, so those are not too compelling, but...

"The usage based pricing models best serve the needs of the majority of our customers"

"The usage based pricing models best serve the needs of the majority of our customers" That is on the newest leaked document being given to Verizon reps to help them sell the new plan to customers. The idea that this change 'best serves" the needs of the customers is really just BS. The...

Google Music - how to stop it including podcasts?

So far I am liking Google Music, but my lists are getting cluttered up with podcasts. I assume it is scanning the phone for music on the device as well, and thinks the podcasts are music (they are mp3s, after all). But WinAmp is able to tell the difference, label them a podcast genre and keep...

Just discovered the Connected Media, but have a question

I just realized that I can stream video, pictures and music from my home computer to my phone using the Connected Media. I usually do not use Windows Media Player, though, so will need to optimize that to get the most out of this service. I can't figure out how to change the library settings...

Visited my Verizon store, came away reassured

When I got my TB, the Charge, Revolution and DX2 were just around the corner. I did my research and decided that the TB was my best bet, but there was a nagging worry that when these other phones came out I would regret my choice. So, a couple of days ago I went into my local Verizon store...

Help Wifi keeps disconnecting and connecting here at work

Google App Syn for Outlook, or just import/export and Calendar sync?

My boss just got a new Android phone and wants to sync up his Outlook email, contacts and calender with Gmail, etc. When I did this, I just added my POP email to Gmail, imported my contacts using the export/import feature and then used Google Calendar Sync to take care of the calendar syncing...

Help How do I change the inline remote commands?

Right now when I double click on the inline remote on my headphones, it will call back the last person in my call history. And when I long press, it activates the Voice Dialer. I don't want the remote to do these things. I have other apps that need those commands for other actions. What can...

Why I chose the TB and why I am still happy with it, despite issues.

Given that it is natural for any discussion forum to trend toward the negative about a product, I wanted to point out my reasons for getting a TB over the other options. I should note that I bought my TB just recently, so I was fully aware of the battery issues and 4G issues, and was not...

Help Does 4G turned on suck battery if you don't have 4g in your area?

Help How do I turn of voice dialing w/o root?

Whenever I long-press my inline remote on my headphones, it triggers the voice dialing feature. I don't want this, I use the long press as a specific instruction to BeyondPod. And, for voice dialing, I prefer using Voice Search anyway. So, how do I shut the Voice Dialer off, or tell it not to...

Verizon support on Twitter fielding a lot of reboot questions - working on it.

If you go to the @vzwsupport Twitter page you will see that a huge chunk of their responses are to TB owners with reboot questions. All they say is that they are aware of the problem and are working on it.
