    Is it possible to root MyTouch without SIM card?

    Being an old WM guy, we are used to updating solely thru USB cables and computer connected i-net connections. Can I do the same on a new MyTouch? I understand rooting should be done with 1.5. So, I want to avoid 1.6 being downloaded before rooting. Thanks.
