server alert, advantages of a popular phone

It turns out that if you are synching Outlook with a server, not all servers can handle Adroid phones. I don't know if an app like Touchdown would fix this, so if you need to synch with a server, check this out. Because I wanted to go with AT&T anyway for tethering reasons (a fairly unique...

AT&T tethering, no slow down, right?

In another thread we talked about the fact that with Verizon if you exceed the 5 gig cap, the internet access slows down to a crawl. I assume with AT&T, as they charge you by the gig over 2 gigs, there is no slow down, right? In the way I want to use tethering, I can't live with a slow down.

    tethering with verizon

I asked four different people at Verizon what the tethering rules were and got 3 different answers. 2 said $20 per month for 5 gigs, 1 said $20 per month for 2 gigs, and 1 said $15 for unlimited gigs. Does anyone know the actual rules? Also, 2 people said there is an app that comes with the...

tethering making computer wireless cards obsolete?

If you can tether your smartphone to your computer, there would never be a reason to buy a stand alone computer wireless card, would there, or am I missing something?

    any keyboard/landscape issues with Vibrant?

I looked at the Vibrant today at T mobile and liked it quite a bit. The unit I looked at had hard time getting into landscape mode and I could not give the keyboard a full test as a consequence. Is there any problem getting it into landscape normally? Any keyboard issues? Thanks.

    What display to expect

Do we have a sense yet of what kind of display to expect from the Droid2? If it is comparable in sharpness to the X, I would go with the X, more like the Ipod, I would go with the 2 (and wait until it comes out).

How big is AT&T's 2G limit?

I don't have a good sense of how big (or little) AT&T's 2G limit is. I once used a Verizon card with a 5G limit and burned through it fairly quickly. I watched a fair number of video clips on line. I don't have a sense of how that translates to a smart phone. Can someone enlighten me? Thanks.

Pay full price and choose phone company?

Not that I would, but if I wanted to, say, pay full price for a captivate, could I sign up with Verizon, or is that not possible? Just curious.

These days it seems like all you hear about are Iphones and Droids. Are Windows OS phones on their way out?

Help What kind of battery life are you getting

I could not find much on DroidX battery life on the forum. I know it is going to depend on what you use it for, but based on your usage, how many hours are you getting?

    Help Keyboard work well?

Now that you put my mind to rest about the size of the X :D, any keyboard issues? Unlike, say, an IPhone that tells you above the keyboard what letter you are typing, the Droid lights up the letter. In the store, I found this a little awkward, since my finger was covering up the letter being...

    Too big, okay?

I took a look at the DroidX at Verizon. My gut reaction was that it was too big and that I should wait for the Droid2. I am wondering how actual users find it though. I always wear my cells on my belt, so it is not like I would have to squeeze it into a pocket. Are people finding it too big or...

FNG ?: What is sideloading and rooting

Checking out Droids and on the forum came across the terms sideloading and rooting. Can someone tell me what they mean? Thanks.

To Iphone or not to Iphone

I lean a little to actually getting an Android phone with Verizon given its superior connectivity vis a vis AT&T. I it vital that I be able to synch over a server with Outlook, but I gather I can do that with an Android app called Touchdown. I also need to synch with OUtlook on my home...
