    Flash Backups

Now that Flash is heading into the archives, it may be a good idea to have a backup of the apks to ensure legacy content is still accessible. I took the liberty of making a backup for you all to download and sideload when necessary. Index of /android/Flash

    Anyone else getting an update?

I got a popup for a software update. About 13MB. Claims it will fix some market issues as well as some other minor fixes. Version is v10p. Can't find anything on the internet about it. Not interested in this software fix taking away root without warning like the last update locked the bootloader.

    One year to go

It's officially our last year on earth. What are your plans? Drink heavily? Kill extra kittens? Finally learn Java to program that Android idea you've had since Cupcake? Kick Khloe Kardashian in the testicles? Take up WoW again? So much to do, so little time.

    Schmidt takes on the Senate

Google on trial: Eric Schmidt to field antitrust inquiry - Sep. 21, 2011 The whole thing is a lot of hogwash. And this excerpt sums it all up nicely: Google doesn't force anyone to use their products exclusively and they aren't the only player in their games; yet the Senate wants to be a...

    Apps Source for my application

Over the summer I've dedicated a good chunk of my time to learning the basics of Android development. Through that I created an application called "555 Calculator". For those of you who don't know what the NE555 is, it's a chip designed to produce a square wave at a given frequency; the...

    Logitech Tablet Keyboard

Just got my Logitech Tablet Keyboard a few days back, and I was really excited to get this paired up with my G-Slate. Setup An absoloute breeze. Turn it on and it immediatly goes into pairing mode, waiting for your device to find it. Took all of 30 seconds to get it connected. When I flip...

    555 Calculator [Tools]

Hey all, just loaded up my first Android App to the Market. It's an NE555 component calculator. Simply input the desired frequency and it will generate various Resistor and Capacitor values needed to generate the desired square wave. This requires Android 2.1 or greater.

    Root Netflix + CM7

Anyone managed to get this combination working? Everything will load fine, and I'll get audio but a black screen. So close, yet so far.

    Help Netflix

Anyone manage to get the build.prop modified so that it would at least bootup? Got it modified, but then got forked in a bootloop.

What is your first Internet Memory?

Gizmodo just asked that question, and it was interesting enough that I wanted to ask it here. For me, it was browsing the AOL message boards in the mid 90s looking for Mortal Kombat II special moves, and the ego strokers who forced you to email them in order to receive their lists. What...

    Dedicated Fan, or Sorry Soul

Found this while browsing...a certain image/b/oard. Can't tell if I'm in awe over how long it has been, or that this person managed to save their receipt for so long.

    Boneyard

As Android starts its third year it may be time to consider a "Boneyard" section for the phones. Eventually phones are going to be discontinued and abandoned all together. It would help save on the vertical scroll when long gone devices begin to out number their active counterparts. It...

T-Mobile US & "Required" data packages

I'm surprised this has yet to be covered when I see a lot of individual threads about required data packages. The following will only work if you are on T-Mobile US, with a grandfathered rate plan(no EM/EM+). For those of you who can get by on wifi alone and would rather not have a fairly...

    'Ported' Section

I know we have the "Other" forum in the phone section, but it doesn't seem to fill the niche that a dedicated "ported" section would. And further, adding subforums with specific phones would be even sweeter. I've got a really stable port running on my Leo, and nowhere to discuss how rad I am...

iOS app store has 'trial period' - This is news?

Apple launches 'try before you buy' apps - CNN.com They do what we have been doing for a year and a half, half ass the hell out of it, and consider it newsworthy. Awesome. My favorite bit: "But we're fairly certain that a "try before you buy" policy might be an effective deterrent for...

    Pandemic 2

It would be pretty rad to get a port of Pandemic 2 for Android. I've only taken Madagascar once (twice if you count me starting there). Awesomely frustrating strategy game.

    Topsy Turvey

I went camping on the 12th and came back on the 15th. I noticed that every time I went out on my porch, since I've returned, there are two little birds that chirp at me but don't fly away. I live on the second floor of an apartment, so I was looking up into the rafters to see if they had built...

    Rant: Stealing demo phones

For the life of me, I can't figure out why people feel the need to steal a store's demo phone. The damn things are usually superglued and shut tighter than Pandora's box, and it would take a miracle and the presence of the Pope to get it opened without damaging something if they wanted to...

    Garminfone

For the three of you who plan on, or already have, purchased the Garminfone; and anyone else who may find this interesting. I was messing around with the phone today, and long story short, the metal strip along the back got peeled up. Much to my surprise, it seems that metal strip doubles as...

Gmote 2.0: Manage your media from your phone, too awesome

I've used this application since it was released, around December of 2008. I love being able to manage what is playing on my computer from anywhere in the house. With a little tinkering I was even able to get everything to stream to my TV, to watch the media that is loaded on my computer...
