    message takes over 7 hours to delete messages

    i have a htc wildfire, but due to the amount of texts i have my phone is really slow, i try to delete my messages but it take about 7 hours to delete only some of my messages, but i can not do anything with my phone whilest it is deleting my messages. is there anything i can do to speed it up?
