My trusty S2 locked up today and, upon rebooting got no further than the
Samsung
Galaxy SII
GT-I9100
screen.
Unsurprisingly an attempt to boot into safe mode fared no better.
I went into the recovery menu and cleared the cache but the same.
Before I try a wipe/factory reset is...
Restarting my device seems to turn off AUTO brightness. A bit annoying when I get into the sun and can't see damn thing.
Anyone know how to get it to stay on?

My 8gb n7 just arrived (uk). Unboxing is not, unfortunately, nearly as exciting as that video montage made it look.
First observation: my portable Belkin charger doesn't charge it. I notice the output is rated at 2A but the Belkin at only 500mA. Another (550mA) charger *does* work though...
Have been getting terrible reception (no service/emergency calls only usually, 1 bar if I'm lucky whilst hanging my body half out the window...) whilst visiting my father but when I tried out the sim in the phone I was using last year, an ancient steam-powered HTC Google Magic, I get 2-3 bars...
I'm looking for a docking station that has space for charging a spare battery, either internal speakers or audio out, and at least one usb port to either connect to my pc or charge by bluetooth headset.
Amazingly I can't find anything that does all of that!
What do other people use?

Just bought a USB OTG host adapter. Was expecting to just plug it in, followed by a USB stick, and be able to access it, but I'm getting nothing.
Do I need to do something to enable USB host mode or have I got a duff adapter?

Was loving my s2 until yesterday, when I loaded up some wedding photos to take to a friend. Yuk. Contrasty, over-saturated colours.
Putting it in movie mode helped a bit, but as-is the phone is totally unsuitable for viewing photographs. I've had a look in the forums and get the impression...
When I run a GPS logger programs in the background they seem to stop running after a bit and I have to manually restart them.
Is there something that kills off backgrounds tasks it deems unwanted? And if so, how do I stop it?

Finally had a real use for a smartphone this summer so I picked up a second hand HTC Magic (running cyanogenmod) on ebay, a machine about the same vintage as my ipod touch. The ipod is nice, but I really don't like the closed box approach apple takes so I thought I'd try an android phone...
Trying to access the internet over the local wifi connection here. It's encrypted, but I've entered its credentials and it's showing as connected. Can't browse to anything though, just get page unavailable. Same with opera mini as with the built in browser.
Any suggestions?

Hi.
Just bought a second-hand HTC Magic on ebay. It says it running Android 2.2.1 with the CyanogenMod 6.1.0-DS.
The phone was originally on Vodaphone but is unlocked.
It arrived however with a *lot* of personal information on it, most of which I've managed to delete, but I'm wondering...
