    Galaxy S8 HDMI adapter

I'm excited that the S8 supports HDMI out. I have a Roku on my TV, which I can wirelessly mirror to. But HDMI is nice for watching Netflix at a hotel, on the TV in the kitchen, at someone's house, and even for professional uses, too. So I'm going to share what I know so far and see if anyone...

Think Verizon will do an early upgrade?

Since a lot of people are going to be going to the Galaxy S6 from the Galaxy S4.. and because the S4 was released on May 23, 2013 for Verizon.. do you think that they're going to offer an early upgrade on it? My upgrade eligibility is May 24.

    Help SIM card removed error

I see this is a common error on the S3, but I haven't found anything about it on the S4. Is anyone one else getting it? Basically, it says that the SIM card has been removed when it hasn't. When it first started happening, a reboot worked. That was in really spotty coverage, so I attributed it...

Help Any setting for how the ringer is low at first, then goes to full volume?

Do all of your phones do the same thing? The first half second-- maybe full second-- of the ringer is low, and then it goes to full volume. I like the feature. But I would think that there would be a setting. Either to turn it on or off-- or to change the duration of the low setting. Anyone know?

Help Coworker's RAZR updated on its own, now battery life is terrible

I want to look into something for someone I work with (a client, actually). She got a RAZR a few months ago, mainly for the good battery life. Then there was a recent update that she didn't approve and now her battery life is terrible-- like four hours and it's about to die with minimal usage...

Would the RAZR M be a good phone for a (construction) contractor?

Hey all. My dad is in contruction (mostly home repair, remodeling, and new home builds). He's been using a Casio G'zone for a while and it's just gotten to the point that he's outgrown it. It was his first smartphone, and is great at being rugged for the kind of environment he's in every day...

Any current handset a good rugged replacement for Casio?

Hi all. My dad has this Casio phone. He runs a construction business so the fact that this phone is rugged and resistant to drops, scratches, dust, and water/ sweat made it perfect for him. I had been telling him that a smartphone would be great for him for a while, but then I was surprised when...

    Anyone have this?

Seems like a nice tablet. I think I'm going to get it after I return the Acer A200 that I just bought and wasn't happy with. I figured it would have a following here.

Can someone with a Tegra 3 device do me a HUGE favor?

(Note to mods: please let this stay in the Android Lounge. The General Tablet forum doesn't get much traffic and this could be tried on T3 phones, too. Thanks. :) ) Hey folks. I need a tablet that can play AVCHD video files (that's .MTS file type) directly off my camera card. My camera is a...

Red or Gray? Plus deals that you've found.

Did you guys go with the red or gray model? I'm looking at getting the red. It seems like there's a price premium for it from some places. Is it a nice color red? And from some videos/ pics, it looks like the red peeks around to the front kind of. Can you see it while looking directly at it, and...

How's the length of the charging cord?

Some people were saying in the A500 forum that the cord was only like 3 feet. Is it any better on this one? If not, where can we buy something longer that works with it?

Tablet suggestions - Full size USB, full size SD slot, HDMI

Hey folks. I'm looking for a tablet. Name brand only. 10 inch. Preferably ICS or upgradeable, but I may have to budge on that. My requirements are: -Full size USB for viewing files on harddrives or getting documents from clients to display on the tablet as a teleprompter. -Full size SD...

Tablet/ processor fast enough to play AVCHD .MTS files natively

Hey folks. I'm looking at different tablets, both for entertainment and work. I do video production for a living. I've decided that I'm going to (try) to find a model with full size USB, full size SD card, and HDMI (doesn't matter what size port on that one). The tablet is going to be used...

Android tablet for video production teleprompter

So, it seems the iPad and iPhone were the first to really catch on for those of us in video production. Luckily, I went all in on Android. But when it comes to apps and other stuff to help with video production work, iOS has a lot of support and Android not quite so much. I've found three decent...

App to use Android phone as keyboard for Android tablet via bluetooth or wifi

I'm wondering if there exists any app that will let me use my phone as a keyboard for a tablet (I haven't bought a tablet yet). I'm specifically going to use the tablet as a teleprompter for my video production business. There's at least one teleprompter app that has bluetooth keyboard...

Help Google Voice + Talkatone (or GrooveIP, etc.) + GV Voicemail on phone

So I started using GV Voicemail after giving it a brief spin and ditching it a while back. I had a bit of a hiccup today with it (VM went to VZW VM, but I couldn't access it), but I think I have it set up correctly now. I've been really curious about GV + VOIP solutions. I followed the...

Gyrometer works fine in Maps, but skywatching programs won't work any more

So, I can spin around like a school girl in the Maps application, and the arrow pointer will stay right with me the entire time. But if I open Google Sky Map or Star Chart, they don't work right any more. They used to work on this phone. I can move all around the sky without it moving or I might...

When will the GTV players from CES be out?

So, I just started looking at this Google TV section of the forums. I keep waiting to hear about one of the new (name brand) Google TV boxes that were hyped at CES in January to become available, but it's almost impossible to even find any news on them newer than February. Has anyone heard...

Anyone using the latest Handcent version yet? (4.1.1)

I want to try the Handcent Talk feature. I'm currently on 4.0, but there's been two updates since that, with mixed bug reports. I was wondering if anyone here had it going and didn't have any problems? I'm really interested in seeing their implementation of free "texts". Like how iPhone...

Help 4G/ 3G toggle widget (without root)

Like a lot of people, my town just had the 4G switch turned on this week. I haven't yet been away from wifi long enough to see how it will affect my battery. But I'm sure it will drain the battery like everyone else. Is there a 4G/ 3G toggle widget that will work without root? The Beautiful...

Help Caller City ID with stock software?

I've noticed that whenever I get a call from a number not in my address book, it will give me the city and state or at least the state underneath the number. If it's the city I live in, it will say that city and state. But sometimes it will just say the state if it's another state (I've had...

Auxiliary Audio Cable with Inline Remote Control

So I was wondering if there existed a product that has an inline remote that you plug into the headphone jack that instead of having headphones on the end, has an auxiliary cable (or a jack to plug one in) to plug into a speaker system. So in other words, I plug the cable with the remote...

Help Lite Flow with custom notification sound

I'm setting up Lite Flow (lite) and I really like it. Except I use a custom tone for SMS messages. The sound is stored under sdcard/Ringtones on my G'Nex. I had it set through Handcent with a blue light. When I try to set it to that tone in Lite Flow, it doesn't show up. It only shows the...

Good Bluetooth headset for PC/ Teamspeak?

Hey. Anyone have a good recommendation for a bluetooth headset they use on a PC? I've been using a Jabra BT8010. It works really well, especially since I updated my PC drivers to BlueSoleil. But it's a bit dated and I'm wondering if I might be able to find something that sounds a bit better and...

Help Waking phone during call with "Power button ends call" enabled

So, there's a little feature in Android that not many people use or know about called "Power button ends call" under Accessibility settings. I used it on my Droid X and I'm using it on my G'Nex. It makes hanging up quick, easy, and you don't have to worry about making sure the phone is hung up...
