Samsung is said to be moving on from 7nm chipset development in favor of 6nm. Despite this change, Samsung is still eyeing the Snapdragon 845 for use in the Samsung Galaxy S9.
References to an "SDM 845" were found on Qualcomm's website before being promptly removed. In all likelihood, the next Snapdragon flagship will be called Snapdragon 845, and it's said this could be the first Qualcomm chipset built on a new 7nm manufacturing process.
Samsung is looking to expand its 10nm production process, while building new facilities for its 7nm processors. The company has reportedly invested 8.5 trillion won into these options.
