Security researchers at Check Point have discovered a piece of malware they're calling FalseGuide. It is said to be hidden in guide apps for popular games, it requests device admin permission when installed and will use that to prevent the user from detecting its adware actions.
38 different Android devices seem to have had some malware preinstalled on them by two different companies. The apps were not part of the software provided by the smartphone OEM, but instead were added somewhere along the supply chain.
