Qualcomm has announced a new reference design for its Snapdragon Mobile VR platform. This new headset, based on the Snapdragon 845, will be 30% faster and use 30% less power than the Snapdragon 835 version.
An unknown device has passed through Geekbench revealing itself to be powered by the Snapdragon 845 chipset, 6GB of RAM, and Android 8.0 Oreo. However, there's no mention of the device or its manufacturer.
Qualcomm recently announced its Snapdragon 845 CPU at a launch event in Hawaii. At the event, Qualcomm had a lot to say about the "Always Connected PCs" running Windows 10 on the ARM architecture. Chromebooks may also be able to take advantage.
References to an "SDM 845" were found on Qualcomm's website before being promptly removed. In all likelihood, the next Snapdragon flagship will be called Snapdragon 845, and it's said this could be the first Qualcomm chipset built on a new 7nm manufacturing process.
