1/30/12 Att press release: Confirmed 2/19/12 release @ $299 on contract. Pre orders begin 2/5 those that preorder will receive the phone on 2/17. White and blue will be available.

1/28/12...It does exist :p all pics can be viewed at http://photobucket.com/galaxy_note_lte

    What I have so far:

Att has an order date to arrive in stores no later than 2/18/12, my guess available for retail 2/19/12
He suspects they could be a week early, could be a week late

    The 18th is on paper

Now..the good stuff..as mentioned, pics are typically forbidden but I grabbed what I could. When I hooked it to the PC he got all freaked out about what I was doing so..no dump (yet)

I liked the device. I am 6'4" and it was comfortable to hold...I could thumb type, one hand it no problem. The screen is absolutely amazing. Clear, crisp, no signs of flaws save the minor discoloration (similar to blobs) on dark grey backgrounds...so barely noticeable that I think i noticed them, but could not reproduce them for further observation. Pulled a few HD vids on you tube and wow...it didn't put the Skyrocket to shame, but the difference was noticeable. Much crisper, more vivid..NO LAG. Both devices tested equally on speedtest.net on LTE. This bad boy never lagged not once and the new touchwiz was pretty cool, but only a few new additions. I failed to take video..I grabbed a snapshot and doodled on it with the pen and that was about it.

    The bad...
The speaker appears to be the same as the Skyrocket. Plenty loud in a quiet setting but drowned out in a crowded In and Out at 10 pm. Call quality was awful..I made two calls, each to someone sitting at a nearby table. I could barely hear them, they could barely hear me. May have been the environment, this place was packed.

The stylus was a neat gimmick. With some practice it might be pretty cool but I did not get the feel I would use it more than to just show it off. The hope would be that developers work it in to more apps. I tested it with the built in Memo app and texting. Texting was awful...if you want an example try evernote...it really seems counter productive.

Overall it will be a great device, but it does not offer enough for me to ditch my skyrocket. If you want the screen size, and resolution, it's an OK upgrade. I can not justify the cost right now. We have more upgrades opening up on other lines later in the year, and I will evaluate offerings at that time. For now I will keep my Skyrocket.

Oh..NFC is a maybe at this point. The device on the inside of the battery door this guy claims is an antenna...Some report it as being NFC...

I will do some more research.

I'm hoping they will reveal the price and date within the next week, probably once CES is over, so I can know for sure. Have a SGSII Skyrocket in white and really hope their "in coming weeks" means less than four weeks, though could easily be six weeks (still under the tag for "months") and I won't have to wait too long. Have to take my Skyrocket back by the 21st to get the Note and hope the release both colors simultaneously.

Don't you almost feel like it's getting to be too late for this phone? I know it's different with they stylus and all, but rumors abound that the Galaxy S3 will be available in April. The Note looks great and all, but it's been available overseas forever and we are at the tail end of the dual core era. I've waited this long to ditch my stupid iPhone, I might just hold out for more cores.

I wish I could agree...but is no different than previous releases.

Keep in mind that April announcement= November or December availability

Well, it looks like it will be a MWC reveal. But the April release is probably for overseas.

I have a feeling BGR might be a little off on release date (particularly cause its saturday) Im thinking the 8th would be a better day. Particularly because its before valentines day.

A leaked roadmap would have been pictured if they actually had one.

That and att releases phones on Sunday not Saturday. I may know more tonight. My Guy is usually right when it comes to release dates.

The Samsung teardown said it does have NFC inside of the battery door. I was very excited to hear this.

I read that it was NFC, but I'll try to find where I saw that. I thought it was Phandroid.

    Ok found it:

I have "confirmed" this is not nfc. It is supposedly an antenna.
After looking at the pic I bet it is nfc...but it isn't active (just like on the skyrocket)
That being said my friend is in legal at Samsung and by no means an expert bit he says there are no nfc options in the menus.

Be right back...there is an FCC diagram somewhere I would think it would be there

Samsung confirmed it is going to have NFC. Whether or not the software on the phone will support it is another story, but it IS confirmed.

EDIT: Here is the official teardown by Samsung: http://global.samsungtomorrow.com/?p=10571
