1st contract phone

How do.

I will be getting a contract phone in the near future but dont understand how insurance works, Well sorta.

If i buy the phone from " Discount Mobile Phones Online " they say i get 3 months insurance so does that mean if my phone has a problem 4/5/6 etc months in i will have to pay myself for a repair? And if i buy from vodafoneand the phone occurs a fault will they fix it for free?

No they would repair it as long as it is in the warranty.
But i am not too sure.

depends on if the HTC desire comes with 1 or 2 year manufacturer warranty.

Insurances covers loss, theft and damage not covered by warranty (as in not a manufacturing defect)

some bank accounts and home insurance may also cover the loss theft damage of your phone but you will need to research this.

They are legally bound to replace anything caused by a manufacturers mistake for the period the warranty covers.

Of course there is always the chance that they will try to snake their way out of it.

On few sites the warranty runs for 24 months, your phone will be covered for that time, but if in any doubt just ask, best to be sure in your own mind and remember to check the warranty card in the box just in case its different, and keep it safe, warranty only covers manufacturers defects only,

you will need insurance for theft, loss, accidental damage.

HTC Desire comes with a 24 month Manufacturers warranty so that side is covered even if you didn't have a 2 year contract on it.

Gunna give mobilephonesdirect a ring tomorrow, speaking to someone may convince me to go with mpd, still a little unsure about the site right now tho.

recieved my desire from MPD today, i rang them and asked wot happens if handset develops a fault and they say you can send it back to them as they have a dedicated repair team who will fix it or i guess you could send it direct to htc under their 24month warranty

Plus having an insurance isn't really bad idea - especially if you can get one cheaper than Orange's
