Just wondering, what speeds are people getting when they go over their limited 4G (The $40 and $50 plans)? Would the phone matter as well? ie; Samsung Exhibit - 4G (HSPA 14.4) and an F3 - 4G (LTE Cat 3).
I used the Samsung as an example because my nephew has one and the speeds are 1x when he goes over his 500mb.
Just trying to get as informed as possible.
Thanks in advanced to the community!!

Metro doesn't care what speed is used, the whole thing is misleading. I have a 3G capable phone (no LTE), and when I crossed that 500MB threshold I was throttled to almost nothing. 0.02 MB/s at best to be honest. If you use that limited data allotment by any means (1x, 3G, 4G) you're throttled. As for how much, well, guess it depends. You saw my throttled speed, may as well have been in airplane mode.

Haha. Yeah, my nephew's is pretty shi...crappy :D. So do you get 3G up to 500? I read on Tmo's website a while back that when throttled speeds would be up to 2g. Of course that was Tmo, but seeing as they are on the same network now I thought maybe Metro would throttle in same manner. I guess I can always try it and if it's too slow, just upgrade to the next plan.
By the way, how is your 3G speed? Here in Bakersfield, there has never been any good 3G. At least not on the CDMA network.

Yes. I had $40 plan, giving me 250MB of data at 3G speed and throttled to 2G afterwards. I'm on TMO GSM, so my typical 3G speed is 5 MB/s and 2G is close to zero.

Previously on CDMA I had speeds of 5 MB/s and +/- 1MBs for 4G and 1x, respectively. MPCS has no CDMA 3G in Boston area.

Your talking different technologies, for the same or similar speed. 1x is a cdma tech 2g on gsm should be equivalent.
