2.1 almost worked except for office docs

Hi,

My upgrade to 2.1 (Eris) went smoothly, except for this:

Opening Quick office gives me a message: "No files were found on your SD card"
I can see all the files such as pdf, .doc ,excel,etc via file manager and the files are ok as I took them off the phone and they work fine on my laptop.

When I try to open the files on the SD card, the following error message appears:
"android.content activitynotfoundexception: No activity found to Handle intent{act=android.intent.action. VIEW dat=file:///sdcard/downloads/name of my file

All other files on SD are fine (photos/videos). Verizon tech support did a master reset. Same result. Verizon tech left a voice message later saying they would keep trying to reach HTC. Help?

I also tried other programs from the marketplace, both paid and free -again, never had issue prior to upgrade. Same result.
