So I'm really digging the speech to text feature. Big time.

One thing that seems glaringly stupid is that we can't use it to make a phone call? Most five year old cell phones can do the whole, "Call Jane Mobile" or "Dial 555-1212" stuff. Is that some hidden feature on the Droid that I don't know about, or are they just ignoring that very basic ability for this phone?

Use the Google microphone on the home page and it will dial calls from your directory or by saying a phone number I use it all the time. Jerry

You are just missing it. Open your app tray and look for Voice Dialer. Drag it to your home screen and enjoy.

It also works if you long press the magnifying glass (brings up google voice search) and just say "call Bob" or whomever. It'll bring up a list of who to call.
