If for argument's sake the official 2.2 comes out with its own official version of apps2sd, and we update from root 2.1 to official 2.2, will we then lose all our apps on our SD card due to it being a 'different type' of apps2sd? Or would we have to move the files from one folder to another.... and if we do, will that result in losing all user data?

I currently have a rooted phone and no idea whether it is even worth doing anything (like playing some of the games) if all my user data is going to be deleted in a few months time..

The alternative is updating to rooted 2.2, but that still means reinstalling everything from scratch (and once again) losing user data does it not?

The only way around it may be to go back to unrooted so that at the very least I know my user data is permanently safe...?
