General 2.3 Gingerbread

    I tlooks like 2.3 gingerbread can be dowloaded from the marketplace..would this work on the charge? Or do you have to root it? How does it replace the old operating system?

    Gingerbread will be an OTA from verizon. There is no app that can install this. It is a rom and could be installed if someone had a rooted version, but as far as I know there is no such animal for the Charge rooted or not.

    i hope they dont do 2.3 gingerbread, i would rather have 2.4 icecream......

    Seriously? Ice cream sandwich probably won't be available for the next Nexus until December, then figure another 6 months just to show up in the first consumer phone. If they don't do Gingerbread, I hope you'll enjoy being stuck on Froyo for at least another 12 months. I won't.
