Do any of you guys have the "samsung tracking" setup?? Basically means your "gps" needs to be running 24/7 , ever since than my battery has not been lasting as long, my first charge was over 48 hours now im lucky to get over a day..

I have gone two days on mine just to see what it could do but I normally charge it every night. I just checked it and it has 85% battery after 15 hours. The Droid X I just replaced with the N2 a month ago would do good to have 10% left after 12 hours with similar usage.

N2 is a truly amazing machine and I am very satisfied with it after a month of use. The only thing about it that I find annoying is the on/off button location and feel but i am not fond of the volume control either.

GPS eats up a good chunk of power, not surprising

In your picture, where it says screen, tap there to see how long the screen was actually on.

I leave everything on all the time (LTE, GPS, WiFi, sync, Samsung motion features, etc) and typically get 1-1.5 days on a charge. Long-term stats from my battery app state that typically a full charge lasts 1 day+9.3 hours. Samsung nailed the battery management out of the park with this phone.

Aside from the protection issue my primary reason for getting a case was the over-sensitivity of the side buttons. I made sure I got a case that covered the buttons to firm them up. Cheapo case does me fine though they did send the wrong one at first that had gaps for the buttons and not enough room to get the pen out.

Yeah, I happily go 2 days on battery with a couple of hours web browsing, half an hour or so on scrabble and draw something and 7 hours music over bluetooth a day.

There's a difference between having GPS "enabled" and GPS "active". Historically, GPS is only in use if the system, or app needs it. Its generally not that big of a battery drain. I have an 2 hour work commute, or more, and GPS is usually 10% of total battery during that time...and that's with the screen on for 2 hours, which is always my largest battery drain.

One reason my battery lasts a while is that I have sync disabled. I like to choose to read my mails by opening the app rather than have them pinging at me all the time. This will save battery by not using the wi-fi or mobile antennae to poll all the time.

If you prefer to sync then check you are on the maximum time you are comfortable with and are only syncing what you need. Set off peak hours such as sleep time where sync is always manual.

I actually also have a Tasker task to put the phone into airplane mode at half past my usual bedtime if I am not on the phone. Another one takes it out of airplane mode when I next unlock it.

Turning the screen brightness down a touch does wonders for the battery but it is a shame on such a great screen.

My Sony Ericsson T29 S would go a week to a fortnight between charges.

    Hmmmm
thats very true but do your sony ericsson T29S have the following:
    1. 5.5 Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen
    2. Quad-core 1.6 GHz
    3. 2 GB RAM
    4.Android OS
    5.Many App running
    6.Wifi and 3G or LTE
And too many other things i havent mention them?
    I dont think so....
So its unfair to compare it with the Note 2

It sticks in my head as it was the first mobile I ever owned. Towards the end it would die a bit and after experimentation I found that about between 2 and 3 feet was the optimum distance to drop it onto a carpeted floor to get it going again for the next few days.

When I got it it was in the new batch of ground breaking phones that could do more than one line of text. I even had a plug-in qwerty keyboard for text messaging. I actually still have it as I do all my other phones except the Note 1 which was my first outright purchase to break out of heavy contracts and so got sold to help pay for the Note 2.

Thats pretty good, I normally get 12hrs out of my stock battery but I'm a heavy user. I have a extended battery now and I get close 2 days on that and my screen time is 8 hours. I have everything running sync, gps and wifi all the time..

Impressive! What was your last device, and how was the battery life on that particular device?
