I managed to root my S2 OK following the instructions here. Unfortunately I could not do what I wanted to do with the GPS. So, Have got 2 queries.

1 Does this mean that I do not get automatic updates of operating systems from Samsung?

2 How do you unroot if it not much help to you?

Grateful for any help, thank you.

What were you wanting to do with GPS after Root?

You wont get automatic updates from Samsung no, but with custom roms, kernels, etc your phobe will, if anything, be slightly ahead of official releases. Not to mention Better than official updates.

Read through rooting guide carefully on main page of threads as I would be very surprised if you chose to un root! There is so much to do to make phone even better :-D

Well as far as I could find out, my S2 has good gps when moving at speed but does not update so often if slow or stationary. So, not much good for geocaching. I was told about an app to fix this. But it did not work on my phone. So, do I take it then that I look for updates myself? If so where is the best place to do that please?
    Thanks for reply
