I got the battery and this is my FIRST charge cycle:

I took it off the charger at 8:50 am this morning and around 8:30 pm the phone died.

    Usage: Moderate

    Sirius app - 20 minutes
    GPS (off)
    WiFi (on half the time)
    Talking: 1 hr tops
    Screen brightness: maybe 20%
    Browsing: 1 hr
A few widgets: smooth calendar, fancy widget, facebook widget, battery level indicator

Does this sound right to you guys (who have the ext. battery) ? Someone said he got about 24 or 26 hours of use out of it. I'm not even seeing close to that.

I think I might return this battery and get a 2nd 1500 mAh (I got one from bidallies) so I can use the stock hard silicone case (love it, want to get the Innocase Active) or I might get the 1750 Seidio (my friend got it and loves it, says big improvement over 1500 mAh).

Is it possible I have a "rogue" app/widget?

What do you recommend I do? Do you think it's the battery, my phone, or a rogue app/widget?

I think it is probably a rogue app/widget... Also, do you turn your phone off after the battery has fully charged and then plug it back in again??? That is the only way you can fully charge the battery... Today was my second day with the battery, and I have 72% charge left after 18 hours 30 minutes of up time and 3 hours of awake time... I had wifi turned on all day, I had the gps on for like 20 minutes while using Google Sky Maps, got on the internet/played games for a total of 30-40 minutes, I probably talked on the phone for a total of 20 minutes, I took 4 or 5 pictures, sent 3 e-mails, and like 10 text messages...

Do you use any task killers or widgets that are constantly running?

    See, that's NUTS. 18:30 hrs ?

I can't tell what rogue app/widget it would be. Yes, I do have Task Killer and Task Cleaner running. I will uninstall those if you think they're not needed. I know Android is supposed to self-manage its memory, but I always see apps in the background that are loaded, but perhaps they're not using up memory if they're not running. Too much misinformation out there.

I do think my power issue is beyond Task Killer and Cleaner, but I will definitely uninstall them and try the battery out again.

EDIT: Yes, I did unplug the phone and plug it back in (several times, even) and had it at 100% for a solid 15 minutes when I first took it off the charger before it stared to go down.

EDIT 2: I have Facebook widget, Fancy widget (clock/weather), and Smooth Calendar. I can't think of any other widgets or apps that run constantly (other than Task Killer, Task Cleaner).

That's the initial problem. You're on your first cycle. It is still a Lithium battery and will have to go through a number of charge cycles to reach it's maximum charge life. You will not see massive changes until it goes through a number of charge/discharge cycles. I understand you should see some improved life out of the box versus the stock battery, but this battery will still need to go through the same cycle all other lithium ion/polymer batteries do.

Go through a week of charge cycles and then report back. The return policy is longer than 7 days for this reason.

Update 3: I would recommend charging the new battery with the power turned off on the cell phone.. that is how I charged my 2150 for the first time.. and after 24 hours of moderate use.. I have 50% power left. I have app killer installed and I have set it on the "crazy" level to kill apps when the screen goes dark. I have gps , bluetooth constantly running.

Odd. My first charge I got over 28 hours out of it till 14% warning came on. Then 5 more hours till it came down to 10% battery left.

GPS, WiFi always on. and over 5 hours of talk time with that first charge. Something's wrong with your situation. Check all apps.

PS. I have Task Killer, but it ONLY runs when I tell it to kill apps manually. And I manually select the app to kill each time. (easier than going into settings>applications>yada yada). ATK does not run on its own on my phone.

i posted this in the other battery forum where the OP did, i'll try to be brief. i got the extended battery and have been using it for 3 days now. it's not working so well for me. today, i've had up time of 3:38:02 and awake time of 0:30:21, and i've already gone down to 87%. it went down to the low 90s just in the first hour i had it on. i have gps on, but no bluetooth, have taken a couple of pictures and sent two picture messages, several texts, and checked my email once. that's it. just sitting here watching it, it goes down a % point every few minutes, like every 4 minutes. that seems sort of crazy to me. is that normal? for an EXTENDED battery? maybe i just have too high expectations. i keep seeing people talk about how they do several things and it's still at 100%, when i can't do anything without it immediately going down like 10% at a time. this will definitely not last me all day. so why am i lugging around this huge battery?

    my usages says:
    cell standby: 31%
    phone idle: 27%
    android system: 25%
    display: 9%
    camera: 8%

i'm sure i'm just being unrealistic in my expectations, but my moto droid did better on just a standard battery. or at least the same. and i do that trick where you kill everything when you start it up, just in case the calendar or something is not letting it sleep, but obviously my phone is sleeping. it's just really draining fast. ideas? i do have several widgets running, but i thought that was the point of having the extended battery, so it would be able to run these and still have an all day charge. yesterday, it died right around 5pm. and that was after i had charged it a little bit at work.

For all of you having extended battery issues...

Something else to keep in mind is that it could be a shoddy battery. My first 1750mAh battery from Seidio elicited an experience even worse than the OP. It would last maaaybe 8 hours, if I was lucky. They sent me a replacement and it lasts literally 16-18 hours easy. I changed nothing on my phone, yet my phone lasts 2x longer than with the original Seidio battery.

From what i've read if atk is running constantly then it keeps closing apps, then your phone starts those apps back up, then atk closes them, then phone starts them again, then atk...... seeing a pattern? And of course its more complicated than that. Do a search on task killers, its an interesting read. If you decide to get rid of them or whatever please report back results/differences.

    *climbs on pedestal*

95% PLUS of the issues I've heard people having battery wise can be traced back to TWO things.

    1. a rogue app, sync'ing issues

    2. MOST of the time, its a "task killer" app of some sort. Almost always these cause more issues then solve.

    *Climbs down*

it's possible you got a bad battery, with "normal" usage I'd expect you to get ~30-40 hours out of a 2150

    OFF TOPIC:

how big is it? does it make the phone that much thicker? The pics i saw weren't pretty.

I love my 2150. I am going on 18 hrs since my last charge. I am at 30% left. I played about 3 hours of podcasts 30 minutes of calls, 10 pictures, about 1 hour of Pandora, and e-mail many times. I also have the Seidio and I am not getting much more time than the OEM (about 9-10 hrs to completely dead). I even like that is bulkier than before. I don't have it for show anyway :)

Can someone please explain how to find a rogue app? I've done some searches but cant find a step by step guide. I have the stock battery and get about 13hrs from it with just about everything off GPS, bluetooth wifi only in a wifi area etc, infrequent settings for autosync etc.

    An update:

I removed the Smooth Calendar widget and battery life is dramatically better. I think I also turned off Background Data and set some of the syncs to every few hours instead of every 1 hour or less.

I took my phone off the charger I think around 10:45 am today, and it's 5:30 pm right now and I have 73% left.

I used Sirius radio for like 30 min and made a 20 minute call, played around some with the phone (Facebook widget - updates made) and sent some texts. WiFi has been on the whole time.

That's definitely not abusive on the battery but I do think if I use it much more, battery life will be substantially better than yesterday.

Now, to see if I can find a case (silicone skin?) for it.

    Up time: 6:55 hours
    Awake: 3:42 hours

Yeah, I saw that thread. Great idea by the OP.

I'm worried, though, about the battery "hunch" hitting the ground if I drop it and have a case that has no back.

I think a silicone skin can stretch over it; my hard silicone skin from VZW does fit over it but it's very tight. I think the stretchy silicone will be easier to get on.

The only issue is that the front of the phone is still exposed when you drop it.

I found a $0.01 silicone skin on Amazon for the Incredible:
